Actually. Sasuke would have defeated Gaara. Gaara was basiclly defeated by Sasuke after Chidori. he needed to rest and be saved by Kankuro and temari to regain his strength so he could transform again. And even then sasuke was delayed by both temari and kankuro after they made an escape.
So It would have been between Shino, Naruto, and Sasuke. and Temari. The way the braquet went. I beleive Temari would have fought Shino. I think Temari would have beaten shino cuz of her wind capabilities and would have just blown the bugs away and cut shino down. Then Sasuke would have most likely beat Naruto. Cuz naruto wouldnt have summone dgambunta to such a fight nor did he know Rasengan. and sasuke was already able to deal with KB.
So in the final match it most likely imo would have been Sasuke vs Temari. And we already saw how Sasuke delt with temari.

Gaara not so long after. Even the invasion didnt start he was practically helpless and feeling the sideeffects of the failed transformation. And had to be carried away.

Do you think Gambunta would have really fought at the chuunin exams. And used his might to fight a genin? Gambunta only fights worthy opponents. He was about to not fight Ichibi. But Since it hurt his son nephew little brother how ever the frog is related. sasuke was not worthy back then to fight a Gambunta so it would have ignored Sasuke.

Naruto would have probably won. Unless Gaara transformed. Cause the way it was going Gaara would have lost because he didn't go all out. Then it would've been Shino/Naruto and Temari/Sasuke fighting I think. Shino would have a hard time with the bugs absorbing Kyuubi's chakra and speed would have been on Naruto's side with Kyuubi. Sasuke vs Temari is a tough call but in the show Sasuke would have won. Then it would come down to Sasuke vs Naruto and Naruto > Sasuke during the Chunnin exams. Though it's Sasuke so he would probably win just like he did at VotE.
And Sasuke never fought Temari. If I recall that was anime only.

Imo. I think Temari would have lost. She was lacking back then and didnt have her level the forest jutsu till then which she could have trained for.

I thought so as well, and I checked accordingly. They don't though, Shino takes Sawsgay's spot against... um... dude, than he catches up to Gaara just as he smacks the shit out of Temari, than they fight.
If that's how the bracket works than Temari defeats Shino and Naruto defeats Sawsgay. Sawsgay doesn't have any abilities that allow him to handle Kyuubi Naruto. His Sharingan isn't advanced enough and Naruto can heal from the Chidori.
Well Naruto was first to fight...Then I thought Shino/Kankuro was suppose to fight but Kankuro dropped out making it go to Shikmaru/Temari in place of Sasuke/Gaara then Sasuke arrived to do his match. I know Sasuke's match took place before Temari/Shika's but I'm not sure if it was suppose to take place before Shino's also.
Though even that way..Naruto still wins. Naruto beats Sasuke goes to fight Temari, beats Temari.

But she wouldn't need it. Her attacks can already severely injure in one hit and have an extremely large attack radius. In the open ground Sawsgay has no way to avoid being hit. How could he win?
