Serve no purpose? What a lie! There's a lot of things you can do to a man's nipple, and get a reaction

Because it wouldn't be fair if only women can get theirs pierced and then we'd ask "Why do women only have nipples?? We're both human right!?"

I watched this drama where this guy got a nipple pierced and some dudes made fun of him for being gay because of it...dunno if it's actually considered gay though

Because as embryos men and women have similar tissues and body parts. If anything the embryo follows a 'female template'. That is why nipples are present in both sexes. It is the effect of the genes, the Y chromosome and the hormone testosterone that brings about
the changes and masculinises the embryo. Testosterone promotes the growth of the penis and testicles. .Because nipples are there before this process begins the nipples stay!

The real question should be 'why do men have nipples and not breasts as well?'

Because if we did we'd be stuck breast feeding the baby

Because all human embryos are inherently female. All it takes to make it a male is the Y chromosome. Thus, when the Y is introduced, the templates, if you will, for nipples stay in the male form.
