Deidara had a hate for Itachi from the very beggining. This time they fight to the death.

Can Deidara pull off an upset, or is Itachi too much for him?

as long as sasuke isn't there to get caught up in the destruction, my money is on itachi beating the shit out of deidara regardless of his "method" to get out of sharingan genjutsus since itachi has so much more than just that.

we never saw itachi do anything except hold back against sasuke twice, hold back against deidara (akatsuki was recruiting/testing him so death was out of the question), and his clone was weaker than the real thing but still it held back in kanohagakure. imo itachi's fighting ability unrestrained puts him at the top of the naruto ranks, he's up there with the sannin and shit.

I agree, Itachi is way too much for him.

Itachi already beat him with little effort

Technically HE CAN beat pain. Dei trained to fight and kill Dei so he has some defense against Itachi Genjutsu which is his main weapon.

you forget itachi is as fast or maybe even faster than his brother. Deidara had some defense against sasuke's genjutsu but look where that got him and that wa before he got the MS

Sawsgay would have died against Deidera if it wasn't for his natural raiton, which saved his life.

Deidara flies up, Itachi kills him with Amaterasu. Unless Deidara can get those microscopic bombs off he looses. Itach can't defuse those like Sasuke or Kakashi could.

That won't happen, Itachi kills him too quickly to react.

Only if he uses Amaterasu.

He could also get him in a genjutsu of some sort, or, yeah amaterasu.

he only train it to counter normal genjutsu rite??tsukuyomi will still work rite??cuz tsukuyomi is not like other genjutsu..

Think about it, yes sasuke beat deidara, sasuke beat itachi, but sasuke only beat deidara in the end because of his lightening based attacks, which I dont believe Itachi has. Therefore c4 would effect him which alone is a hard thing to avoid, on top of that the c2 dragon/ landmine plan would work on itachi because once again he has no lightening attacks. And finally genjutsu cant work on him, maybe itachi MS can but we cant really assume it does. So id have to go for Deidara on this one he has defence against itachi's genjutsu, and in the end yea he isnt the best at taijutsu but he is good at avoiding things, with the fact e can fly and that he avoided gai, rock lee, and neji with no arms.

It's a toss up to me. Itachi still had unknow techs that Sasuke didn't have, he just doesn't have the elemental advantage like Sasuke had in his fight with Deidara.

well after thinking about it Deidara is a very deadly character. if he can avoid Itachi's initial g=enjutsu attacks he might be able to win.

Deidara has trained to counter the sharingan, but can he counter the mangekyo sharingan? He has knowledge on it but does he know how it works and such? Doubt he will has anything on Sasunoo.
