Crom, from the old Marvel "Conan" stories, was powerful enough to just take Thor's hammer/powers/godhood/etc away and turn him from god to mortal and back. The Grim Grey Lord of the Mound beat Shuma-Gorath not in a fight, but just by enchanting a book and having some mortal priest read it aloud. Can any gods out there best him? Given that he's the wellspring from which all testosterone flows. Note that the enemies sent against him must be technically gods.
And of course, New Gods (if that's the idea you come up with) sent against him are reduced by the Mother Box, just in case that thing about them secretly being the size of universes isn't fanboy crap.
