So ya, I decided to join the Army, something I have always wanted to do but never had the opportunity until now. I have met with a recruiter several times. In fact I am going to the MEP center Wednesday for my physical and to be sworn in. My MOS is Internment/Resettlement Specialist 31E. The only bad thing is they want to ship me to Missouri for basic training on February 5th, which sucks because not only will I miss my son's 3rd birthday but I will miss my brother's wedding
My recruiter said he is going to try to get my ship date pushed to where I want it but I have a feeling it wont happen. Anyways I just wanted to let you all know I will be leaving KMC for a while. I will miss you all.

Will they make you take out your piercings for basic? I've asked this question two other times, so I apologize if I'm becoming a pest. i'm wondering because you would have to take them out and your holes will probably heal up.

Well, they do kill people, you're correct about that. And they're paid. But I don't think they kill for money. I mean, it sounds like they're mercenaries. They kill because it's necessary. They join the army to demonstrate the love and the loyalty (to say the least) they feel for their country.

I'm sorry, where have I looked down upon anyone? I've cited the literal definition of what being a soldier can and does entail. I have not tried to assume knowledge of any reason for such a choice - as one other has done.

of course you may, I joined as a master at arms (MP basically) so I can get some good experience under my belt as well as some college classes so I can finish strong in the law enforcement department. Once i leave the navy I plan on becoming a police officer with that tactical training the navy gives...

I may go SWAT or something else from there.


That is why i joined, the pays not great and I can get shot at...and I know people dont always see eye to eye with the cops (I wouldnt either if they took away my bong and threw me in jail)

Nevertheless, its better than sitting at home typing away at an office and then being pissed off at the world all day

Hey everyone, I have returned from the MEPS center, I am not officially in the Army yet
The Army doctor gave me a temporary DQ because I have a scar on my arm and he doesnt believe that I fell through a glass table when I was 14, he thinks I tried to kill myself.
I have to get a waiver, then a psych evaluation then I will get sworn in, my recruiter told me he has dealt with this many times, and he will get it worked out, it just really pisses me off because the doctor sat there and said I was lying about how I got that scar and I was telling him the truth. I am just so sick of being stereotyped because I am different, and I know that he thinks I cut myself because I have tattoos and piercings, but he will see, I will have my waiver today and I will pass their psych evaluation.

Oh, I almost forgot, thank you all for wishing me luck, and thank you for your support

I was reminded of when my oldest daughter had a bad case of chicken pox.. she had clusters of them all over her body with only a few on her face. The ones on her tummy scared.

this made me lol cause its almost exactly what i went through, except it wasnt for a psych eval...i had a friend that had to get one though

What do you plan to get out of the Army?

I would just recommend your local college. You have a child if I'm correct and the military won't give you shit but a headache and frustration. Never ever join, (especially as a woman) during any occupation.

This of course is just my own opinion. Just be careful, girl.

I'm joining to better myself, provide a better life for my kids, and I cant do that where I am now, this town is going under, there are no jobs here, I have to drive 35 miles to work a job making $9.00 an hour, I cant afford to go to college and joining the Army is something i have always wanted to do.

basic training is 10 weeks and AIT is 8 weeks, then I get to go home for 2 weeks
