Why was this thread started when you could just put it in the guitarist forum? A bass is still counted as a guitar.

Not going to lie, don't often pay attention to the bassist... Probably should but don't.

Toshiya is my favourite though, of Dir en grey, I like his solo in the song Cage.

^ Got to admit Flea is very good.... It's not often you can name the bassist of a band over any other member.

Paola
I love Nikki Sixx, also Trujillo and Newsted... can't think up who else

mr.smiley
I would say my top 3 are Victor Wooten,Jaco, and Kai Eckhardt.
Vic is an amazing solo player, but he can hold down the groove as well.Very hard to find(espcialy ones who can do it at the same time!).I just bought his workshop DVD and it is nothing less of awe inspiring.
Anytime i need some inspiration,or stuck in a Bass playing musical rut,Wooten always has something great to say or teach.

Kai is just from another world.Look him up on bassplayer.tv and you will see what I mean.

And of course Jaco Pastorius. The guy reinvinted the role of the Bass Guitar single handedly, while dropping jaws at the same time.I can still remember the first time I herd Donna Lee.So many thoughts and emotions came over me at once.Though my personal favirote is continuum.

The next 2 are a tossup for me,but their are a few names I gotta drop.

Stu Hamm. Amazing player.Made me have to learn his version of Linus and Lucy because I was floored when I first herd it.

Dave Larue. Nobody seems to know who he is,yet he is one of the best in the world.Listen to stress fest,or just youtube him with steve morse or Joe Satriani and you will see what I mean.

Marcus Miller. This is a no brainer.

Stanley Clark.Right up their with Jaco.

Divinity.Total groover. And raps at the same time!

Larry Graham.Created slap bass, and of course everyone loves the line to POW.

The other stupid theme being the "Bass guitars are nothing like guitars"
lunacy....?

smile

Seriously, no one should bust your balls for submitting a post picking your picks and also showing who your picked from/also liked.

Shit they do that at award ceremonies all the time.

Since I highly doubt he's going to come up, I'll name him for the sake of his recognition; James Jamerson.
