Starscream M
What do you think is the best comic-book based cartoon series and why?

Digi
In terms of actual production values: the most recent Justice League stuff.

In terms of nostalgic value while still being good shows: X-Men/Spider-Man of the 90's. I slightly preferred Spider-Man.

Philosophía
Batman TAS. Followed by Justice League and X-Men.

Nihilist
x/men-jlu were great.

as a kid i also like spidey and his amazing friends even though it was crap

Some of my favs were already mentioned, but I always was a fan of the "Maxx" cartoon, but it's a fairly obscure comic character.

starlock
Xmen 90's
Batman Tas

Hands down those were the best...i.m.o

willRules
JLU exceeded my expectations yes

Harbinger
90s X-Men. I still watch the Days of Future Past episodes.

Blight
You are all incorrect. The Maxx was the, hands down, best series to spawn from a comic book.

I thought the whole jungle theme was kind of lame smile

Badabing
Batman TAS, JL and JLU TAS, Spder-Man TAS (90's), X Men TAS (90's)

tjcoady
Without taking into account what I watched as a kid....

JLU.

Brave and the Bold is actually pretty damn great, though.

Vally Doosh
JLU

The X-Men and Spider-Man cartoons of the 90s have aged terribly.

Kris Blaze
Sure as hell ain't Hanna Montana.

srankmissingnin
I loved the Spawn series on HBO... even though you had to sit through Todd McFarlane douching it up for a few seconds at the start of the episodes.

Batman: TAS is a close second though.

I hope I get the Batman: The Complete Animate Series boxset for Chirstmas! 17 DVDS of awsome big grin

Symmetric Chaos
90s X-men was the best overall but JLU had better plotting.

Blight
I really liked Wildcats... but I don't know how it aged.

I'm Bran
Spawn, Batman, X-Men, Spider-Man, and JLU.

Batman TAS 90's Spidey and X-men, JLU, but my favourite has got to be Spectacular Spider-man I just think it's so well done.

Kazenji
Batman TAS
X-men 90's
Fantastic Four 90's
Iron Man 90's

I also did'nt mind that Spider-Man Unlimited series except for how they ended it.

Starscream M
Great Cartoons:

Batman TAS: the father of all DC cartoons. classic. defined batman. nuff said.

X-Men: old school goodness. excellent voice cast and good storylines.

Spawn: Amazingly mature, excellent writing, intensly atmospheric.

Justice League: Very fun to watch, good characterization.

Spiderman: better than the movies...much better

Superman: better than the movies

Fantastic Four: kinda corny, but in a good way

---

bad/mediocre cartoons:

Wolverine and X-Men: sorry but the guy they hired to do logan's voice just does not fit. (he's a great voice actor...did cowboy bebop...but he has a certain sensuality to his voice that logan should not have)

Iron Man: just meh overall

Batman Beyond: not really bad...in fact I liked it initially, but Terry is just an uninteresting character.

Teen Titans: not really bad, just that I'm too old for it I think.

Silver Surfer: never really watched it

X-Men Evolution: decent but too teeny boppish

I've decided that Iron Man is the best based purely on the opening. big grin

Trackz
Static
X-men
JLU

the whole creation of the DCAU was great though

scottish men are huge. My scottish side of the family are all above 6 feet even my great aunts lol

Batman Beyond was always a personal favorite of mine.

And Spectacular Spider-Man > 90s Spider-Man by leaps and bounds.

Blight
90's Spiderman was so god damn bad. I even figured that out as a child watching it.

I believe Spiderman was the first time I learned that cartoons can be bad, too. And I didn't even get that from the Fantastic Four Cartoon.... which is AWFUL!!

Fantastic Four had a few decent episodes.

BUSTER1
The Hulk, Spiderman and Xmen cartoons of the 1990's

Priest
XMen/Siderman (90's)
Batman

That new spider-man show i've watched it a couple of times but i just prefer the 90's one more.

The heavy censorship for that show was absurd. The animation, for the most part, is good, save for a few of the standard money-saving measures the series took (reused scenes, slowing/speeding up animation, fast cuts and editing).

Thank god for The Spectacular Spider-Man!

jinzin
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....

How have they not been brought up yet? confused

I like Both the old and the new stuff.
Old for silliness and nastalgia, and a great animated opening.
New for better storylines and animation plust a seriously badass shredder.... At least up til the lost season... The fast forward and back to the sewers stuff is crap as far as I'm concerned.

I actually liked Evolution, and I think the new Spiderman series rocks.

Blight
When we say new spiderman series are we talking about that Cell Shaded MTV one?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was BAAAAAAAAAAADASS!! Especially when a character would talk from a different character's mouth laughing

Wild Cats Was Badass though I don't remember it much and I don't know how well it aged.

The Maxx was Badass. I think it's partially to blame for my temporary lapses in sanity.

X-Men Animated was rad except poor Animation and Terrible aging.

Batman: The Animated Series was utterly astounding. Animating it on Black Paper made an effect that REALLY helped the series, as were it's nigh adult themes.

Superman Animated was Amazing as well, what a great series on par with Batman.

Justice League Was great due to the fact that each story line was designated as a two parter... allowing a much richer and In Depth Storyline

Justice League Unlimited didn't have as well done Episodes... but they substituted it for some of the most AMAZING action scenes in Cartoon History. Great to see so many characters, as well.

90's Spiderman is god awful and I will never think it's good no 's matter how much it's argued. Far too fast paced and Jumbled storylines as far as I'm concerned.

90's Iron Man has the most kickass Theme (Both of them) so it automatically is rad in my opinion. The First Season is god awful though. Second Season Really steps it up a notch.

90's Fantastic Four will always have something special held in my heart. The Theme song is so cheesy but rich with delight so I can't help but like it.

Spiderman Unlimited was certainly lame..... don't have much to say about it.

MTV Spiderman is actually quite well done and I enjoyed nearly every episode.

X-Men Evolution I ALSO really enjoy and I believe is well done in establishing it's universe. Juggernaut was badass and I was sad to see it cancelled.

90's Silver Surfer was awesome as well... Though I hated noticing same voice actors not even trying to mask their X-Men Voices. Frankie Ray sounds 100% the same as jubilee.... and Thanos' Voice just sucks in general.

Batman Beyond is great and also a great followup to the Legendary Batman: The Animated Series.

Starscream M
good point Blight, about the early Justice League episodes all being at least 2 parters...that did give them the ability to write more complex and engaging stories imo.

Scoobless
Yeah, X-Men: Evolution was pretty good actually.

manjaro
in or oder
JLU
Batman Beyond
Xmen Evolution

Vally Doosh
The Batman also turned out pretty good after a terrible start.

Raoul
ive been liking the new series, the batman brave and bold one. it's not as well written or brilliantly thematic as the old TAS, but its a fun watch...

and it had red tornado in the last ep, so yay for that...

Mr. Funktastic
If we're talking series , then DC has got Marvel beat with those classic
JLA episodes. The JLU and Batman series is just over kill. DC , IMO has made the better cartoon series. However, I've enjoyed the last couple of Marvel animated movies. To bad Marvel doesn't make a series based on those animated movies .

it was cool for it's time, it would have been better if it was made by hbo so all the SD comic's violence could be in it.
