I didn't bother to see Diary of the Dead cause I completely forgot that movie existed .
MildPossession
There is stuff on this new movie already in various other topics around

Kazenji

Kinda of seems its a sequal to Dawn of the Dead Remake from another person perspective
Selphie
so now they are trying to co-habitate with the dead
I'm up for it!
Kazenji
As long as it does'nt get as weird as someone having sex with a zombie.

Why doesnt he make something else?
I think that weve gone as far as we can with Zombies.
Infection,dead rise,mayhem,characters die,characters live,characters escape,bitersweet ending..........
MildPossession
They have done that recently in a terrible film called Zombie Diaries, I think one of the human characters rapes a woman zombie he has chained up in a barn...
Blinky
Diary of the Dead made me believe Romero has lost his touch. I'll only see this if somebody else spends their money.

Has potential. You know damn well if zombies existed someone would screw one. Probably would make a zombie porn industry and all that.
And that person would be me.

Trailer you sick people

I dunno. I think after this Romero should take a break from making zombie movies. He's doing them too frequently and it seems each one gets worse.
Back in his heyday he was doing one every decade, now he's doing one every year.

Diary was good movie. There was absoliutely nothing wrong with it given the format. Peoplee just have too high expecations. After you had sex for awhile. It loses that omg sex is amazing feeling.
A good Zombie movie would be a military one froma FPS and not just the stupid camera. Make it abit more real like seeing it in the eyes of a marine.
MildPossession
No, Diary of the Dead was just a rubbish film from the man. If he made it as well as his first few films, we wouldn't feel what you mentioned above. We expect from such a director. Unfortunately, it looks like he is going downhill. I hope I'm wrong with the new movie.

Fangoria had the pleasure of catching up with genre legend George A. Romero this past weekend at our annual Chicago Weekend of Horrors convention. Naturally, his new zombie opus was the first thing on our minds. “I do not have a title for the movie yet,” the director laughs. “Right now it’s just called …OF THE DEAD, although I kind of wish I could just name it DIARY OF THE DEAD PART 2. What I can tell you about the story is that it is going to be focused on what is happening in the world right now. The atmosphere is a little different after the Bush years, but I still sense some uncertainty. I guess I would say that it’s about some bigger problems. It looks at how we choose to represent ourselves, and maybe the current financial crisis is as good a time as any to explore how people come together in the face of crisis.”

Can't we just have a good ol zombie movie with no political or societal undertones? These issues have already been super-imposed onto his other movies. The message has just become redundant at this point. I know zombie movies rely on interesting and conflicting characters as much as they do on zombies but can't Romero just make a zombie movie where the people are simply trying to survive?
As for the movie itself, the trailer looks god awful. I'm hoping the trailer was made from a rough cut of the movie because it looks amateurish.

That's quite a rubbish title.

I liked "...Of The Dead"
Wolfie
So I assume that, like Diary, this will be another stand-alone Dead film?

That's how i felt when i first saw the trailer for his latest movie
The reasons are probably typical because the movie had some obvious problems but what didn't you like about Diary?

Will see what the reviews think of it soon once it's shown at Toronto, and I think it's showing at Venice film festival too.

Of course Land and Diary weren't as good as his Day or Dawn, but I mean, I still like the movies. They're more slapstick now, and he even says that's more of his aim, and yeah, I get that some people don't like that, but if you're going to watch Romero, he wants you to have a laugh. Don't think everything's completely serious... and how can you take zombies that seriously anyways...

Romero's political and social undertones made his undead franchise what it was, and I for one enjoyed every minute. Personally I don't see his commentaries as redundant rather an ongoing part of the story to his world. Pity Diary went a bit off course and went back to the beginning, would liked to have seen how Lands survivors (not necessarily the main characters as that'd break from Romero's traditions) but those we see moving out of the city on foot at the end progressed.
