Not counting the Justice Legion A, since most think it's too much, what are the most powerful teams out there? Also, NOT including things like Sinestro Corps or Annihilation Wave. I'll name some:

Pre-Crisis Legion Of Super-Heroes
The Monarcy
Midnight Sons
Galactic Guardians
Morrison's 14 JLA lineup
Pre-Crisis JSA (the lineup that had Spectre)

I think the big 5 are something like:

1. PC Legion
2. Galactic Guardians
3. The Monarchy
4. Pre-Crisis JSA
5. Midnight Sons/Morrison's JLA

Golden Age JSA.

Inevitably, the most truthful answers are things like "that one time Mad Jim Jaspers joined {insert team} for an issue." Not sure if Jim actually did that ever, but there's plenty of others like that.

Though it's easily dodged if we say most powerful team that was together for a considerable run. Determining an exact issue count would be silly, but we're all able to determine the one-hit wonders from the actual teams.

JSA is certainly in the top 3, but the Specrre fluctuated a lot. Plus, they aren't more powerful than the Legion, IMO.

The original Justice Society, with the Jim Corrigan Spectre, the original Doctor Fate, are more powerful than the Legion no doubt.

So is the Justice League with the Original Ion.
