We all knew that when dark reign started it would be anything but permanent. Marvel tends to use big events to sweep previous status quos under the rug. Any ideas as to the type of crossover that will end dark reign. Any writers that you would recommend to helm it.

I really want to see Norman Osborn's downfall in the next big event. I want to see him lose after an epic battle involving Spidey and Norman is ironically crushed under a massive structure in the shape of a hammer. Obviously the body is never found.
I think the next storyline will have a strong enough villainous threat to reunite the good-guy Avengers

Amen.
The only fitting defeat for Norman would be being beaten down by Spiderman.

Why will they never find the body?
Because Peter will swallow every bit!

Hopefully it last for quite sometime, interesting way of uniting solo type characters in a team with a realistic personality.

Yes. The "Era of Doom" will follow afterwards. Dark Reign ends with a huge battle between Doom & Namor's forces Vs. Norman's Thunderbolt, Dark Avengers, Hammer, and The Initiative. "A battle the likes of which this dimension has never seen." - Doom
Doom eventually wins and this leads into Marvel becomes even darker in "The Era of DOOM!"
- Includes Doom finding Kubik and stealing his power. Then giving Morgan Le Fay the beating of a life time for his humilation in DA #2.

Would've been great to see Spidey fight Iron patriot in the end and saving the day, except now dragging Spider-man into importan story means screwing up continuity for other marvel characters as well.

if spiderman doesn't take norman down then they just wasted it

why must spiderman take norman down? i think its about time green goblin/norman grew beyond spiderman, if anything i want to see norman full on snap and beat the living hell out of spiderman and his obsession with spiderman leading to his downfall in another way or by another heros hands =P be it ironman, cap or a group effort. or hell norman himself realizing he lost everything blowing the hell outta wherever they are. of course his body never being found so we can have green goblin goodness at a later date.

he has to because its norman, he has gotten to the very top the best way for it to go full circle is for spidey to do it. Plus it will be the only thing that can redeem him from the brand new day crap

I think they might be setting up more of a Tony Stark/Norman Osborn confrontation with he whole Iron-Patriot thing. However I hope Norman's downfall heavily involves Spidey.
In the nineties, a little time after the clone saga whereby Norman had revealed himself as the villain, he came back and managed to discredit past claims relating him to the Green Goblin. He bought the Daily Bugle and he goaded Spidey into beating him up which he recorded and publicly displayed offering a bounty on Spidey's head and offered million(s?) to whoever caught Spidey. Peter escaped the fiasco by adopting new heroic identities and fooling Norman into dropping the bounty.
Later on Norman would be brought down in an insane attempt to destroy Peter and the attempt revealed him as the Green Goblin. The same story brought back Aunt May from the supposed dead.
The point is, this sort of new high is nothing new for Osborn's character and his downfall last time was attempting to screw with Spidey. It would be very appropriate if that was his downfall this time, even Ellis' thunderbolts portrayed this massive fear and obssession with the web slinger that was driving him crazy.

Him beating osborn would be the perfect way for him to finally go back to being a cool character and hopefully get his upgrades back since they are still part of his history

Norman character and Dark Reign has increase my interest to Marvel comics, due to toss/mix up of different point of views. Hoping this arc last 50+ issue before ending
BTW when is Loeb next RULK comic coming out?

i dont know and i hope it never does
and i didn't mean just beating him senslees i would actually expect a huge showdown like always with everyone, and at the end of it all normans obsession with spidey cuasing him to make some dumbass mistake and at some point spidey takes him down.
hmm i think i'll go write some of this out after work and post my idea in here

i dont think spidey has enough personal stakes in it to be the one to take down norman. yeah norman hates him but he pretty much has done a good job looking past spidey and trying to take more control. if anything id like to see either ironman or Samson take him down. more so samson. that would be beautiful lol.

You mean apart from the fact that Norman's killed Spidey's Lover (after sleeping with her and having two kids grow up to try and kill Peter), killed his daughter, his clone, kidnapped his Aunt May (mother figure) for years, drove Spidey's best friend and his only son insane before having his son killed through the formula and attempting to destroy Spider-man by making him heir to the Goblin mantle. To name but a few. Now this man who has taken sooooo much and more from Peter is the new Nick Fury.
But apart from that, yeah it's not really that personal.

BlackZero30x
what if Norman has a mental goblin lapse and brings the dark avengers to their own doom...look at them now hes being so strict and forcing them to get along basically a great idea since most bad guy teams fall apart for that reason...so what if he starts going back and forth from goblin back to Norman while takeing up arms as the Iron Patriot...so the team starts running a lil more crazy....causing avengers to come in an tear them up....any one listen to the marvel pod cast's?

lol i mean nothing personal in the current arc. the way things are so far is abit different and much broader in who is effected and connected to whats happening. for it to boil down to goblin-spidey like every other thing that has anything to do with norman just feels like its falling short.

Fair point. I'd still like to see Norman's downfall be due to Spidey though. There's something poetic and justified about it IMO.

Although Tony Stark might be another appropriate choice at this rate.....

bump.
Just reading some of the dark reign comics, I hope the crossover that ends this series is not written by bendis.

Based on stuff in the other books, there's definitely the X-Men style threats with Apocalypse looming in the background, Magneto doing something with the dreaming Celestial etc. Also, the Hand is revving up for something in a big bad way (possibly on the scale of Elektra: Assassin) and Kingpin's coming back to town as well.
