Earthrealm's resident God of Thunder has a bone to pick with the wannabe god who controls the Stargate, and with good reason.
Several of Ra's henchmen have kidnapped Liu Kang, Kitana, Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade and have brought them to his desert fortress.
Jax allows Rayden to use the Stargate to transport himself to Abydos, Ra's stronghold.
There, he finds his chosen warriors being held under guard by Horus and Anubis. One blast of lightning sends both henchmen flying.
Ra: You are not of this world. But your power over lightning and thunder are impressive indeed. Give me your power and I will grant you a quick death.
Rayden: (eyes flash) I don't think so.
The two being square off.
