Is anybody on this site into power lifting, weight training, bodybuilding?

forumcrew
I workout on a regular basis but not into any kind of crazy power lifting.

Yeah I'm not so much into power lifting as much as I am into bodybuilding. Although to build muscle I need to lift heavy but to shape and isolate certain muscle groups I usually stick to 10 or 12 reps per set (4 sets) instead of power lifting which is maximum weight at 1 to 2 reps pyramid down.

Anyways, that's cool. So what your routine, bro?

LDHZenkai
I workout 6 times a week. Usually no power lifting though. I usually only do curls and tricep extensions with heavier weights (30 or 50 usually). I will say though i went from being able to curl 20lbs to 50lbs now in a month and a half of working out. I'm more into getting a lean look as opposed to huge muscles though, so I do a more full body workout (cardio, weights, plyo, and core).

forumcrew
6 days a week man make sure you give your body enough rest time or your wasting parts of your workouts. But it sounds like your doing a good rotation of workouts that you might be ok.

yea i switch it upso i work a different set of muscles each day. and i only do ab/core workout 3 times a week. keeps the body from plateauing and keeps the metabolism on high.

I train 5 days a week, every body part and cardio every day.My aim is strength and size. Some times train a certain body part a couple times a week to improve in certain body part if i am not getting the gain's i require.

JacopeX
I workout once a week.

LDHZenkai

You do know that doing the same muscle groups in consecutive days is not good?

dj slade
i train 5 days a week no cardio at the moment just focusing on muscle mass for now i train each body part once a week 8 to 12 reps with heavy weight.

doing 21 are awesome gives ya biceps and awesome pump feels like your biceps are ripped of the bone.

Dr. Leg Kick
Only working with kettel bells, and not excessively. Too much mass puts too much pressure on heart.

Focus more on sparring muay thai and boxing.

Wish I had time for some grappling lessons. Sambo would have been great.

if you're looking to lose a gut, then you should crank out some crunches or situps

you also need to have a healthy diet, most people don't know it, but the diet is more important than how much weight you lift or how many miles you run

cut down on carbs, cut down on fats and cut down on your calorie intake, focus on lean proteins such as fish and chicken.

Bicnarok
Thanks for that, cutting down on carbs aint easy though eh. Bread, noodles, milk and all that.

Stress and boredome eating is my problem, plus a sweat tooth.

Earl Dark
you don't need to cut down on carbs completely, you just need to eat a steady amount

basically, if you're burning it off then you'll be fine

dj slade
throw in some cardio and a balanced weight training program muscle helps burn fat increases your metabolism eat smaller portioned meals 4 to 5 times a day dont skip meals either.50%protein 30% carbs 20% fats.

Bicnarok
cool, ill give that a try.

I've been off and on a few years now.

When I first started exercising I weighed 230.
I got down to 169.
Now I'm passed 230 but I have more muscle and have retained a lot of my strength at 245.
When I first started working out I couldn't even do one dip,now at 245 I can get between 4-6 in a set.

But sadly my gym closed down.
Instead of joining another one, I bought my own weight bench.
I work with my bench, medicine balls, and heavy bag for cardio.

I got a lot stricter on my diet lately and haven't had a beer in over 2 weeks (gotta lose the gut).

botankus
Damn, smiley, looking at your avi, at 245 you sure don't hold your weight well. stick out tongue

dj slade
lol when i tried burning of that stubborn flab a few years ago i went 4 hours non stop on a stationary bike at medium speed after that i got of the bike and my testicles were numb like they just dropped of lol

Earl Dark
230 down to 169

that is ridiculously impressive or you're just full of shit, but i'll give you the benefit of the doubt, who am i to say you couldn't do that

congrats if you did

but how did you get back up to 245? muscle? or did you just put the fat back on?

I would love to tell you all in muscle but mainly in fat.
Though most people tell me I look better now than I did before I started exercising.

And yes,that's in pounds.

I got in pretty good shape and felt great.
After I got hitched I gained my weight back, but I looked better and still felt better because I didn't give my workout up completely, and though I ate more generously,I still wouldn't eat certain foods.

A lot of people do have a hard time putting themselves out their and showing their gains and losses, but one thing I always keep in mind is that no matter how much you improve your phsyique, you'll always be your worst critic.
and if people want to put you down for an imperfection or flaw, then forget about them.
What have they done to improve themselves?

Props for the gain man!

moses winston
That's very impressive Mr.Smiley.

I'm actually trying to gain weight. I'm only about 180 and stand 6'4. It's hard for me to gain weight, but I changed my diet about 2 months ago and improved my training programme and I'm actually gaining weight now, albeit rather slowly, but I'm making gains non the less.

I engage in a 6 day split routine focusing on hypertrophy fiber training.
Monday:Chest, triceps and anterior/alterior deltiods.
Tuesday: Back, biceps and Posterior deltoid.
Wensday: Legs.
Thursday: Shoulders Abs.
Friday: Lats, traps and Errectors.
Saturday: Chest and back selfweight and cardio.

Everday is accompanied by an ab workout about 50% of the effort as my actual ab workout.
Everyday i think of something to do that involves legs besides cycling to the gym, I like to keep my testosterone nice and high all the time.

Monthly split:
3 weeks hypertrophy
1 week strength training.
( not in that order, i always change it)

http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c293/mrsmiley123/lance240001.jpg Thats like a perfect mimic of what happened to me. Only I went too extreme with it. I am only 5 '8 so when I was 220 I looked real chubby. Then I got on a balance diet, running 3 hours a day, weight lifting, and boxing training. Ended up bout 135 lol but in awesome shape. I got lazy and am around 178 now but am starting to get back to training. Whats funny is both times I gained were the result of my grandmother being too close to where I lived. Kinda hard to stay in shape when you have a southern grandmother who shows up at your house 3 times a week with soul food in tow claiming she made too much.

mr.smiley
I here you man.
My girlfriend keeps feeding me so its hard to stay in top shape.

MildPossession
What about the bicycle maneuver exercise? I read this came out on top in scientific experiments, showing it's better than crunches/sit ups.

Any tips for women? I would love to know what the best exercise is to keep away bingo wings that women seem to suffer from compared to you lucky men? anyone.
