After watching Star Trek again, I am convinced that Chris Pine is the best candidate for playing Steve Rogers/Captain America.

PRAYERRUN
yeah well people also want him to play Hall Jordan. Personally I think he's too small to play Steve Rogers.

SpaceMonkey
Pine's already playing Thor. He can't play both. Sorry.

PRAYERRUN
dang, pine is really popular in the superhero world lol.

Juk3n
Pine would be cool as CA, but i guess he'd do a good Thor aswell, Jensen Ackles would be my pick for CA though.

he is too small to play Steve Rogers/Cap, but prolly just right for Hal Jordan

No he's not. Chris Hemsworth is.

As for Chris Pine for Captain America, yeah I'd be cool with that. Really dug him in Star Trek.

Ohhhhh yeah!!! My bad. (egg on my face)

Actually Chris Hemsworth is playing Thor. Not Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth played George Kirk, Captain Kirk's father.

My pick lives on!!!!! HA!

PRAYERRUN
I'll probably get picked on for this, but since I can't think of anybody better, John Cena.

Don't laugh , there has been talk about Cena

PRAYERRUN
lol well he would definately look the part.

well I thought about HHH for Thor - only because he looks the part.

SnakeEyes
NO WRESTLERS. I can't make that clear enough. People don't want fvckin terrible "actors" like John Cena or HHH playing these iconic characters. Who cares if they've got big muscles, big deal. Quality acting is so much more superior to a ripped physique it's not even debatable.

I totally agree, however I was just stating that HHH looks the part. They've already pick the actor for Thor. I really doubt the Hollywood would give a lead role to major franchise like Captain America or Thor.

Quincy
if John Cena was Captain America, I would be pissed.

SpaceMonkey
Actually, Matthew McConaughey would be good.

HHH did try out for Thor..

His voice stinks.. He talks the same exact way in every film.. I don't want to hear Steve Rogers/Cap talk with a mouth full of mush

I gotta say I'd never believed this but after seeing how well Pine pulled off Shatner's Kirk in Star Trek, I'd say he could totally be perfect as Cap!

That's what I'm saying!

starlock
I say...NO WAY...for Chris Pine to play Cap.....i just dont see it...i was not impressed with his performance and/or his talent...... they might as well put Jon Cena in the suit...i have seen his movies...and he is as good as Pine i.m.o...but i say none of them should play cap......though i dont have a better choice......a while back(when Troy was released) people clamoured for Brad Pitt to play him....i guess that might work

SnakeEyes
John Cena's as good of an actor as Chris Pine? Get your head out of your ass.

I agree! Chris Pine is great! John Cena sucks. Chris Pine did a wonderful job in Star Trek. He carried the movie on his shoulders.

Wow...such maturity..just grow up!..lets just disagree then.....Chris pine is as wooden an actor as i have ever seen....i.m.o.....i think it would be a disaster.....he was the worst of the bunch in the new star trek.

Looks like Steve Rogers is coming back in time for the movie.

PRAYERRUN
What about Kevin Sorbo for Thor?

Were you watching the same film? It's fine if you don't like Chris Pine, but he was anything but wooden. When I think wooden, I think Keanu Reeves/similar actors, but Pine was pretty damn charismatic throughout the whole film. Wooden is actually the worst word I can think of to describe his perormance. Like I said, it's cool if you don't like the guy's acting, but at least use an accurate word to describe it.

Mr. Rhythmic
Chris Pine's a great choice for Captain America, but I say Mark Valley is still the ideal choice.

I completely agree, Chris Pine did a wonderful job carrying Star Trek. He made the movie interesting and I know he'll (if he's picked) do a great job.

I find it interesting that people are complaining about his size. I don't know he looks fit and in good shape. He may be a little short, but so was Robert Downey Jr. as Iron and Christian Bale as Batman, even worse Michael Keaton as Batman.

In the end it's all about the acting, and Chris Pine would be perfect!

Sado22
not bad actually. he's got the hieght, the looks too. if he buffs up a little more he'd be great actually.

The reason why I think about Mark Wahlberg is because I just saw him in Renasonce Man and at first I thought he was a younger John Cena. THEN I thought, he could be Captain America if he had the same look.

interesting choice.. he could work

Alpha Centauri
Mark Wahlberg? Are we being serious here?

You're sure?

Have you seen any of the man's movies? Max Payne? He couldn't act if you told him that it'd give Earth a cure for cancer.

That we know of; John Barrowman. Easy.

I am very sure.. I m not basing anything off of past performances.. If the studio decides to hire him and give this film a good script, it could work..

what makes you think John Barrowman will work?? Isn't he like 50 years old?? Besides this isn't Doctor Who, Barrowman works well on the tv screen, the movie screen is totally different

He's 10 times the actor Mark Wahlberg could dream of being. He has a chiselled look, very heroic.

At least John Barrowman works well on something, as opposed to Mark Wahlberg.

yeah, but will he actually translate to such a role??? Anyway I doubt the studio will hire a 50 year old to portray a 20 year old...

you never know since studios will hire their best choice for who they feel will be suited for the role

hugekent
Walhberg isn't a bad actor at all. I thought he was excellent in Boogie Nights and The Departed, but he's not Captain America.

Darth Martin
Wahlberg was excellent in The Departed.

Alpha Centauri
He was just supported well by many more great actors.

Generally, he's a shitty actor.

-AC I don't know about that. To me he just doesn't seem to care most of the time and puts in half arsed efforts. It was only a small role, but to me his performance in The Departed stood out even with quality all around him.

PRAYERRUN
I just think he'd have the best look. (Mark I mean.) Cap is a guy who is from the ww2 era suddenly placed in the 21st century. I think Mark could capture that as well.

xJLxKing
The guy from Troy that played Hector should be CA. They just have to dye his hair.

The Nuul
Walhberg whould make a shit CAP. Departed was his best role other than that he cant act.

eric bana...fascinating

The Nuul
Doesnt have the look.

PRAYERRUN
It needs to be a guy who can pull off the whole " I'm from the WWII era " thing. Acts really old fashioned, but can whoop butt all the same.

Darth Martin
Eric Bana is a good actor but too old. How about Channing Tatum?

PRAYERRUN
Channing Tatum? who's he? I will stick to Mark Wahlberg for now until I see somebody better.

The Nuul
How about Ben Mckenzie? add more muscle and weight to him.

Louis Leterrier Talks Captain America, Avengers
Source:Los Angeles Times
August 10, 2009

The Los Angeles Times recently spoke to The Incredible Hulk director Louis Leterrier and got quotes about what he's seen of The First Avenger: Captain America and his dream for The Avengers. Here are several clips from the article:

LL: ...I have seen some of the design work they’re doing for Captain America and it looks amazing. It’s a period piece and it’s like “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and with more gadgets...

GB: Well that makes sense, I know Feige and his team turned to Joe Johnston because of his art direction work on “Raiders” and the fact that he directed “The Rocketeer.”

LL: Yes, exactly, so it’s “Raiders” meets "Rocketeer” and “Saving Private Ryan.” It’s going to be so cool.

LL: ...You know, you asked about my dream, I’ll tell you my real dream: To work with Joe Johnston and Kenneth Branagh and Jon Favreau and make like a triptych. We do four movies. We release them one a month for the summer. Or even every two weeks or three weeks. And the whole summer would be Avengers summer. So we do it the way they make television shows. One story arc but told in installments by different directors. So all of the directors that touch part of the Avengers world would do a part; we could make the movies shorter, maybe less than an hour and a half, and we use the same sets and save Marvel money. I would love to sit around a table with all of them a kick around the story. That’s my dream.
