In a surprise move, it seems Transformers and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen director Michael Bay has decided to leave the franchise and not do a third movie.

It does seem weird that Michael would quit only months after saying he would simply be taking a break before doing Transformers 3 in 2012. It’s also interesting that he mentions it a day before the first public opening in the UK.

The most shocking thing about his interview with wenn.com (via IMDB) is that he will be doing something different: “I need to do something totally divergent, something without any explosions.” He also goes on to comment on reviewers, “It’s easy to go shoot an art movie in a winery in the South of France. But people have no idea how hard it is to create something like Transformers. They (the critics) review me before they’ve even seen the movie.” Don’t worry Michael, we liked it.

So fans, think back to 2006 and start deciding who you would love to direct the next installment of Transformers.

However, I dont see anything about this on his site or forums.

Thoughts?

IMO its too early to tell but there will be a 3rd film but will Bay do it maybe? I think hes just too over worked and too much big robots. Give him time and he should come back. Only he and maybe Stephen can pull it off, other than that part 3 will suck.

Michael Bay is a very gifted LIAR.. Didn't he say the same thing after the first Transformers on how their wasn't going to be another Transforners film and that he was not gonna be involved.. This is just great marketing for what may possibly be the biggest film of the summer

THANK YOU, UNIVERSE! THANK YOU...!!!! big grin

He said this before, raising my hopes for a better tommorrow, but went back on it and stayed on. Hope he stays off.
(And that criminal proceedings can begin stick out tongue)

But he is probably sabre rattling for a higher fee.

I hope Tim Burton doesn't pick up the franchise. Not that I don't like Burton, but I don't want him near TF's.

Scythe
Whoa, just found this, guess Bay isn't quitting.

Well If Bay did quit who would people want to continue the movies ?

Scythe
J.J. Abrams, I think that's how you spell his name, or Kevin Smith.

Haha, that would be a rather strange change of scene, especially if he starts adding his cliche touches to it...and optimus prime starts singing about the decepticon's and how they're a threat to the universe hahaha

Abrams would be pretty good, but you can only hope that he doesn't include time travel and alternate universes...

Id back Smith, save for the fact that he hates Transformers,

Raimi could be good, but my 1st choice would probably be James Cameron.

Yeah he'll throw in a sex scene in the Transformer movie......not that i'm complaining.

Now I love a nice decent bit filth as much as the next man, but its just substitute filler material in a movie that lacks time spent on its title subject.

Meanwhile Megan Fox should definitely have a like a porno extra on the bonus disc.

Man that bonus disc would earn the very title that day....

Yeah as long as it's not with Shia lebouf. She needs to get it on with Sean Connery.

So HASBRO doesn't know how Transformers were made? He's lying in there. Anyone who loves TF knows that the Quintessons made them.

I had it as the gift of CGI having Magan Fox lezz it up a bit with none other than....Megan Fox.

No need for blokes in this vision.

Just another MF.

In the cartoons they did, sure.

The origins story was different in the Comics.
