European hate crimes + media censors = thumb down

Ushgarak
Censors?

Check your damn facts before you make such hasty criticism.

By getting stabbed 15 times in front of her son.

...go on, why exactly is that a world news even worthy of CNN or BBC (just the event, not the outrage that followed)

Sado22
that's not his point.

its nice to see that the BBC reported it but why was it reported in just the middle eastern section and not the european section? this is as much germany's problem as it is egypts.

Probably because to observers it reveals and deep seated hatred of Muslims that remains not only prevalent but, relative to anti-semitism, widely accepted in the western world.

But mainly I was noting the difference between "died" and "brutally murdered in front of her 3 year old child".

Sado22
ditto.

But mainly I was noting the difference between "died" and "brutally murdered in front of her 3 year old child". That's the interpretation that people got from it, which was reported. Again though, it is one case, it shows no deep seated anything. One twisted ******* killed someone, perhaps because he was a racist, ignorant ****...that's all there is to the story, which is why it may run national, in a country where we have little flashy murders like that, but there's no reason why that single incident should be broadcasted all over Europe or the world, people get killed every day, for many, many sick reasons, this is one case, showing us statistically and factually nothing.

Ushgarak
A murder, even a violent and gruesome one, is not international news- sorry, but it just isn't.

The outrage is has caused is. So the international newsworthy part is in the Middle East.

The incident happened in Germany.

It should've been published in the "European" news section and the local news in Germany.

All thanks to media censors

Ushgarak
No, censorsip is your ridiculous conspiracy theory. The truth is simply that a murder is not international news. The cries of bias are ridiculous. To the question 'what if she had been a lesbian?" the answer would still be "it wouldn't have been international news."

The fact is, that the BBC has reported it. And as the report has moved onto the repatriation of the body, it was filed under the Middle East section, which makes it no less new,s or accessible, or covered- and so still a massive riposte to your weird cries of western ignorance.

All thanks to media censors There was no reason to publish the incident. There is no reason why this murder should get more attention than any other, except that it happened in a courtroom, which is odd, though not unheard of at all.

For the rest of Europe there's 0 reason to have an article of it.

occultdestroyer
Well, that's unusual. Still seems like censorship to me.

In some parts of the Middle East (open cities) and Southeast Asia (democratic countries) where I've been,
EVERY crime that happens during that day is published in the papers and local TV.

Local, yes. International, I doubt it.

Ushgarak
If every crime that happened in the engtire of the Middle East and Southeast Asia was reported intenrationally the sites would be thousands of pages long every day.

Do you know how many crimes were committed in the US today?

Your statement is evidently ludicrous.

occultdestroyer
Pardon me. What I meant is every major crime of a given day is published, like a racist killing similar to this or something of the sort.

And yes, it's only published locally, unless it has something to do with foreigners or religious affiliations.

Robtard
Just curious, for the people in here who are claiming "Western bias, Muslim Intolerance" or whatever, what should the world media have reported?

Shakyamunison
What is it?

Sorry for the Double Post but I thought I'd point out if you go to

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/default.stm

You can see the News Story reported with a headline link to the article, brief summary and photo. That is as much as most stories get...

dadudemon
If Europe got a story for every hate crime committed in America, the news would be rather boring.

One woman dying because of one racist stabbing her because he's a pansy loser, doesn't bode well with me...but it was just two people out of 6.9 billion.
