Hitmonlee was probably my favorite of the original 150, tied with Mewtwo. Second gen favorite was Ho-oh. I do not care much for what came later, but I do really like Deoxys.

Growing up, it was Charizard and Mewtwo. I don't care about how many there are now. Those will always be the most badass Pokemon ever.
When the next wave came, I thought Lugia, the Unknown, and Entei were cool, but they still couldn't compare.

Aside from being the best of the three starters in first generation (Blastoise can go to hell), Charizard was among the most saught after trading cards, and even in the show was among Ash's most powerful pokemon (if not the most powerful to my knowledge) once he finally started to listen to him (and was also a ruthless badass in that manga, almost kiling another Charizard), on at least two or three occasions beating pokemon that had an elemental advantage over him. I can name at least three friends of mine who still indulge within pokemon solely for Charizard.

Yeah, Charizard was going toe-to-toe with an illusionary Entei in the 3rd Pokemon movie, which implies how powerful Ash's Charizard was.

I prefer Haunter over Gengar despite the slight superior stats. Haunter was badass.

I've gotta admit, it was always close between Haunter/Gengar and Kadabra/Alakazam for me. The later two are sweet!

Kadabra and Alakazam are awesome as well.

I guess it's pretty cool when you put it that way.

It's Lugia for me. It's one of the best Pokemon I have handled bacause of his stats.
PLus, it'a a Psychic type Pokemon.

As a Psychic, he doesn't compare to Mewtwo.

Arceus is the best pokemon. Not because he is cool. He is strongest, it has been stated. He is the god of pokemon, and the creator of all. I'm guessing in the pokemon world he'd be omnipotent, game mechanics show him faint in a fight.

If you understood it, Arceus is strongest. He has never been defeated in battle as far as we know, and if he created all pokemon, how is it possible his power is defeated by theirs?

Created all Pokemon? Porygon and some others were man-made last I checked. Mewtwo was also created by humans.

Ho-Oh is my favorite, even though Lugia looks better imo. Entei isn't too bad either. Raichu is pretty good, but doesn't look as 'nice' as Pikachu.

He had to use his own body to make the Pokemon universe, and lost the bulk of his power in doing so.

As far as I know, they're equals. But Ho-Oh's kewler, by far. Ho-oh's color scheme is better & I like Fire a lot more than Psychic. However, I like the stream-lined look of Lugia. Ho-Oh rules otherwise.

Arceus is the Alpha Pokemon.

He created the first 3 Pokemon:

Dialga, who represents Space
Palkia, represents Time
And Giratina, ruler of Dimensions

In addition, Arceus is the only Pokemon with a total base stats of 720.

Next to his are 7 other Pokemon, all of whom have base stats of 680.

Mewtwo, Lugia, Ho-oh, Rayquaza, Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina.

Anyhow, yep. Mewtwo and Ho-oh are my two favorites (I tend to like psychic and fire pretty much equally for some reason, never preferring one over the other ), but having Phoenix in your name, I guess I shouldn't be surprised you like the rainbow legend over Lugia also.

To each his own (concerning type preference).

As far as looks go, Ho-Oh is modeled after Fenghuang iirc, though that's still the Chinese take on the Phoenix, so BOOYAH!. My only gripes are that the Fenghuang is second to the Dragon in terms of importance, and that the FG represents the Empress and females >___>.

Shadow Lugia's color scheme was also pretty neat.
