When Harrison Ford can't do any more Indy movies...

Is it possible that they'll continue the Indy stories but with Indys son? I mean Shia LaBeouf is still quite young, and so is it possible that they'd kill indy off in the movies old age or whatever and then his son decides to take over from his dad and then go searching for...treasures and what not himself

siriuswriter
when harrison ford can't play indy, then indy movies no longer exist. in fact, i don't think he was indy for the fourth film, he was just some old guy that some where in a time and land far far away, was smirky and seductive and intelligent and asking for trouble...
and then there's omg i can't ride on a motorcycle!indy from koks.

indy didn't seem to remember that in his last adventure, he stole a motorcycle with sidecar from the nazis and managed to kill a handful of soldiers on their own motorcycles.

blah, blah. shia lebouf needs his own role in a new franchise to make himself big. keeping him on as the sole hero in indy films is just giving him scraps. let indy rest with his pipe and his accomplishments of saving both the ark of the covenant and the holy grail from falling into nazi hands.

please??

PRAYERRUN
if lebouf is gonna be Indy's son, give him his own image. I imagine a black jacket and a black fedora hat.

queeq
Maybe he can cover the plot holes with some nice CGI additions

teamB_macro
yeah i think they're grooming shia for it. indy was sort of passing him the torch as seen in the last scene when shia was about to wear indy's hat.

Sadako of Girth
I nearly puked in that hat.

Shia seems to be the "hit kid" recently - Transformers, Indy, Eagle Eye, Disturbia...etc - he's put a bit much on his plate and if he's not careful he'll get boring...

that said, he's been a good actor i most roles he played - relatively

Sadako of Girth
You can only do so much when you have a shit script to go on, I guess....but he needs to get more dynamic...not just hypermanic performance.

He is like Jim Carrey right now whn he came out.
(Although not as funny/talented)

He needs to find his "Eternal Sunshine".

queeq
And his own True-Man Show.

CadoAngelus
And his own 'Liar Liar'

Sadako of Girth
And his own "Earth girls are easy".....

*remembers that Bay's Transformers exists*

Ooooops.... stick out tongue

queeq
Hehehe

Sadako of Girth
This transcription just in:

Errr..... ooooooooookaaaayyy.....

CadoAngelus
i was thinking the same thing queeq...lol

Sadako of Girth
That was from Shia LeBooofs audition.
It'll be on the DVD extras to Indy XII. wink

CadoAngelus

queeq
INdy XII? Is that gonna be 'Mutt Jones and the Search for the Golden Era of Lucasfilm"?

steverules_2
By then Lucas will be an evil head in a jar laughing over and over as he works his CGI magic on Shia fighting the lost tribe of Indian Ewoks who hold the golden key of the monkeys anus

CadoAngelus
and a secret nazi lazer sword has been kept found by the american government

queeq
I can't wait. Lucas will yet invent a whole new meaning to the word "camp".

Sadako of Girth
Roger Corman to direct?

queeq
No. It has to be bad. MAybe they can resurrect Ed Wood.

Sadako of Girth
Good call.

We dont want any quality spilling in there by accident.

queeq
Nope, I respect Corman too much for that. His school of low-budget filmmaking gave us the likes of Coppola, Cameron, Scorsese, De Palma, Bogdanovic and Demme...

Sadako of Girth
Battle beyond the stars still gets a watch round here.

queeq
Hehehe... never saw that one actually.

Sadako of Girth
WHAT...??! Its arguably his finest hour! Check it out immediately! stick out tongue

queeq
I dunnoo...

Sadako of Girth
Maybe my comment was a little strong, given his other works.

But suffice to say, Its one of my all time favorites.

queeq
Hmm, maybe I should. I remember it coming out, when I was a kid but it felt at that time nothing cuold ever come close to SW. That was in a time when SW actually stood for something, that attitude meant something. wink

Sadako of Girth
I know what you mean.

I regard it in terms of weirdness, spirit, warmth, great characters, great and unorthadox ship designs, to be a worthy stablemate of Starwars.

I wouldnt have said that of anything else.

Best clone there was and definitely classic viewing..

queeq
Really? hmm... now I'm intrigued.

Sadako of Girth
See PM... Take two of those and call me in the morning. wink

queeq
Yes, doctor.

Sadako of Girth
stick out tongue

queeq
It'll have to wait I'm afraid.

Sadako of Girth
These things keep.

queeq
Thay have for a while now...

Sadako of Girth
Heh I guess so. stick out tongue

queeq
Ancient stuff...

Is it me or do movies seem to age much quicker these days? I remember being a kid in the eighties, being curious about all these films made in the 60s, 70s, heck even the 50s and earlier. Nowadays a movie over seven years old is considered OLD...

Sadako of Girth
Depneds what dates it really. Cannibal the musical is a period movie.
Therefore it seems to age less that something set in a more contemporary setting.

queeq
True. But what about the classics like Ben Hur, Cleopatra, Giant etc... all period pieces but now considered ancient.

Sadako of Girth
Yeah but the the production equipment used all date themselves.
It looks old in quality terms. Unlike Gladiator for example.

queeq
Which will look old in 20 years as well.

I still think the "old' movies are quite stunning.

Sadako of Girth
True First Blood might look old now, but I can from this timeframe still see the quality difference between that and Ben Hurr/Gone with the wind.

queeq
It's mostly a different style.

I just bought Quo Vadis on Blu Ray... these movies look amazing when restored.

Sadako of Girth
And thats ancient, isnt it.

queeq
Well, only 50 years.

Sadako of Girth
Yes. But in movie terms....

queeq
Nowadays yes.

Sadako of Girth
Yeah the gap has widened more noticeably this century.
Its all Bay's fault.

queeq
Bay again... grrrrr

Sadako of Girth
His stain is already on Nighmare on Elm Street as producer.

queeq
Stain? That's putting it mildly.

CadoAngelus

you're kidding? ffs BAY, can't you keep your grubby hands off good franchises

he directed Friday the 13th reboot and now this...though i've not seen Friday the 13th yet, i've not got high hopes

Sadako of Girth
Me neither.

queeq
Who does?

They should let J.J. Abrams revamp that.

CadoAngelus
only problem i'd have with that, is he'd probably try and throw a twist in about time travel and an alternative reality that influences the reality the film is supposed to be in...

queeq
Maybe. He'll throw in a monster at least.

CadoAngelus
a relatively unexplained and unseen monster that appears once every 30mins or more to be met with mass gun fire and hysteria

queeq
Sounds good.

Sadako of Girth
Sounds toooooo much like the ignorant Bay treatment of the Decepticons.

I definitely forsee this transforming into Bay efflunce.

CadoAngelus
it could also loosely meet JJ Abrams criteria for a film, but we seem to have no qualms with him

queeq
Because he also applies a certain degree of depth of character and a surprising narrative arc. That sorta makes him a good director, where as Bay is more a loud director.

CadoAngelus
that's true. although, there was only slight character development in cloverfield. the first 30mins was character development, the rest of the film seemed frantic and slightly disjointed at some parts.

then again, everytime i think about cloverfield i focus on the bit when they're walking through the subway tunnels and the parasites start attacking after the camera guy starts talking about flaming hobo's...and then i start thinking of a parody of cloverfield called Flaming Hobo's and the parasites are replaced with flaming hobo's...it's funny...and i'm ranting again WTF?!

queeq
Indeed. Cloverfield was quite an experience, I think.

Sadako of Girth
And still way more intriguing than any Bay works past "The Rock".

Bay isnt a patch on Damon Lindelfhof's ass.

The fact that LOST, and the last Star Trek were more the work of he rather than Abrahams, is testimony to the fact that Abrahams is a smart money man, whereas Lindelhof is the real seal of quality, it would seem. And to this would explain the big jump in quality between the afformentioned, and Cloverfield.

Bay is just a tosser though.

queeq
The name is Abrams... Abrahams is the guy who worked with the Zucker boys, but wasn't that funny.

Sadako of Girth
Yeah I make that mistake all the time....meh...

queeq
You're forgiven.

CadoAngelus
or are you?!

Sadako of Girth
Only time (and further typos/general mistakes) will tell... stick out tongue

CadoAngelus
indeed they will

Sadako of Girth
I admire the efficiency.

If humankind was as devoted to finding the worst terrorists in the world, as they are clamping down on spelling errors,
we'd have found, caught and executed Bin Laden years ago.

queeq
But nobody cares about grammar anymore. ;-)

CadoAngelus
especially Bin Laden...by the sounds of things

Sadako of Girth
stick out tongue His family were no doubt relieved that their names were grammatically correct on those plane tickets in the days following 9/11....

queeq
W. took care of that... well, his White House staff..

Sadako of Girth
Yeah..... unless they presented the list to him as "My Pet Goat II"..

queeq
laughing out loud

Sadako of Girth
...."Son of goat".

The story of Goat's famous lost years.

The coke.
The women.
The failed oil businesses.
The more coke.

queeq
Mountains of Snow.

CadoAngelus
didn't know it snowed in the middle east.

queeq
They have a lot of money.

Sadako of Girth

Sadako of Girth
Ahhhh well at least I'll know not to shop too big that week.

queeq
Didn't they make a miscalculation making the Maya '2012' taking place in over 200 years?

CadoAngelus
wouldn't surprise me.

queeq
Yeah tehy did. And I also heard something that they didn't predict the end of the world, it's just as far as their calendar went... Guess the calendar business several centuries ahead of its time wasn't very profitable.

Sadako of Girth
Its all silly methinks.
There have constantly been end of the world prophecies and we're mostly still here.... Remember the Bible code...?

CadoAngelus
bible code?

Sadako of Girth
Yeah a code that alledgedly predicts the future that is based on/applied to the torah:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bible_code

Looked intriguing in the nineties, especially after the predicted Ravin assassination came true etc..

But it also predicted inaccurate things like nuclear holocausts in 2005-2006 and stuff.

CadoAngelus
ah, i think i've heard f the code before...or seen it in practice with something.

Sadako of Girth
Yeah it was news in the mid/late nineties.
Wafts in and out of the public conciousness every now and then.

queeq
They even tried it on Moby Dick (the book, not the whale itself), and the method even worked there.

Sadako of Girth
laughing out loud

Did it predict that in the 23rd century that a 20th century genetically engineered superman would read the book, and use it for inspiration for stalking Star Ship captains...?

CadoAngelus

that would have to be one ****ed up whale if you could decode it...

Sadako of Girth
laughing out loud

queeq
Actually he was. He was transported into the future, genetically engineered and sent back to our time. Soon Lucas will make a movie about it with the return of a movie hero we all love: Howard the Duck 2: Smoking the big white kipper.

Sadako of Girth
Ironically comedy gophers and CGI might actually work in that context.

queeq
I knew it. Howard the Duck was way ahead of its time.

Sadako of Girth
Lucas regains visionary status...?

queeq
Most certainly... And cigar sales will soar.

CadoAngelus
and perhaps a spin-off comedy sequel with Indy in it...and Mutt...and a wrathfull fire demon!!! and mass rapings!

Sadako of Girth
Mutt eternally getting fingered violently, by a sun-balrog is the stuff of comedy legend.

It'd look good on the trailer.

Looks like most of the dialogue is already written...

Sadako of Girth
Yeah thats prologue. The rest of the script is just Shia LeBouf's character screaming how sorry he is and how much he wants to die whilst being fire-fisted repeatedly by the firey demon.

And of course, he gets his wish at the start of the thrid act. The rest of the movie is just previous characters from the 1st three movies, and the TV series all partying, and revelling in the fact that Mutt is a dead burned corpse at the heart of our sun now, despite the fact that some feel that Mutt's inclusion in it actually ruined the sun.

well i may have to agree with you on that, if it's not the overwhelming smell of A2U (periodic table entry: 1 part Arrogance, 2 part Uselessness = aka Arroglessness) that is helping the sun to burn faster, but also the 12light-year wide anus balrog left on Mutt actually eclipses the sun almost indefinitely.

Sadako of Girth
LOL laughing out loud

A singular, painful and very thin stretched ring round our sun...? Wild!

I only ask that during the sunbeast fistrape scene that absolutely no special effects or CGI be used, to make up for the difference between the "There'll be no CGI in Indy" stance, whilst marketting the movie, and what emerged into reality come release day.

Lets see how good Shia's method technique is. shifty
