Umm, not to start an argument - but just to clarify - Placidity DOES state "I've selected the ones that are generally more popular for the poll. If your favorite is not in the list, just specify in your post."

By the way, Placidity - can I ask - HOW did you select the ones that are "generally more popular"? Just a general, personal impression, did you count the threads or the polls...?

I'm not trying to be contentious here, but perhaps The Nuul's idea of counting the most threads might be the most accurate - isn't there some computer whizz with lots of time to figure out a way to do it?

Of the characters available to vote for, I choose Batman, both as contender for most popular AND as a personal favourite.

It's pretty obvious The Bat-god takes this one.

Pretty much lol. Although I did google and found many different lists of the most popular superheroes and that is also reflected in my list.

You could still just state your hero and I or someone could tally up (how many people said Deadpool for example), after this topic reaches a certain number of pages maybe...

but on the forum i say thor is the most beloved.

If I had to rank this particular list in order:

1. Spider Man
2. Batman
3. Wolverine
4. Superman
5. Hulk
6. Green Lantern
7. Thor
8. Silver Surfer
9. Wonder Woman
10. Flash

The top four are all REALLY close, and make sense because they have individual forums dedicated to them (Wolverine under the 'X-Men' banner)

This isn't my list. It's my evaluation after years of watching the forum here, who's the most popular with the members.

most popular character on KMC that gets to overrated is DOOM

It's impossible to overrate Doom because it's impossible to know what he is capable of or capable of MAKING himsel capable of.

Wolverine and superman are pupular in a more negative light on the forums.

really depends on one definition of popular.

Worldwide Spiderman would be the most "popular", Superman is the most well known. Bats is the most popular in DC though. These are day to day people, on the forum things like matches and fans make some characters more liked than others.

The big 4: Spidey, Supes, Bates, and Wolverine take it. Guys like Thanos, Flash, SS, and GL are on that list. As well as Hulk (Rulk as well right now) and Wondy. Rulk is looked at in a Negative light more because of his writing at times but he is still popular hence all the threads, Wolverine is more looked at because of his history of a number of supporters he's had driving people insane, so people tease him. I'm sure quite a few people on here still go to the comic store and read something with Wolverine in it though, regardless of what they say. Originally posted by Alpha Centauri

-AC It is if people say something like he's overall more deadly than someone like Thanos because Thanos is really just a souped up version of him. Even Mxy can be overrated at times and he can remake universes in his own image.

Worldwide Superman, Batman, Spiderman and Hulk are by far the most well known and popular, and I'd say in that order (Superman/Batman are interchangeable) with Wolverine being the only one that might come close to them. Ask the average person who somebody like Thanos, Green Lantern or Silver Surfer are and they'd shrug and move on.

Hmmm I think Wolverine is more popular than Hulk, they might be about the same in terms of how known they are, can't say.

Worldwide and historic will always be Superman and Batman. Even my late great grandmomma knew who superman was...

The ones people seem to agree are the top four - Wolverine, Batman, Spider Man, Superman - were also the top four in Wizard Magazines Top 100 comic characters of all time. In that order.

Wolverine kinda trails behind the three a bit but he is getting up there. It mostly comes down to Spidey and Bats with popularity, I'd give it to Spiderman slightly. But they are all very large cash cows.

He's still pretty popular...that he isn't the most HYPED character like Spiderman or Wolverine...yeah, I'll give you that one.

Batman is more Hyped than Spiderman though, he and Wolverine are pretty close. I guess it depends on what you mean by hype though.

The poll title is misleading - it asks who your favourite is, when the question is who do you think the most popular hero is on KMC. Because I voted for the latter (Spider Man), not my personal favourite(Thor or Silver Surfer.)
