From the CBR interview it sounds like he'll still be Shaman and won't be depowered.
There was one “Dark X-Men” character that Cornell could talk about in some detail though. He's not a team member, he's a target. His name is Nate Grey AKA X-Man. The son of an alternate reality's Jean Grey and Cyclops, Grey first appeared in the 90's X-Men storyline “The Age of Apocalypse.” At the close of that storyline he found himself in the mainstream Marvel Universe where he put his vast mutant powers to work as a hero. During one of those exploits it looked like Nate sacrificed his life to save the world from alien invasion and “Dark X-Men” marks his return to the Marvel Universe.
“He's near omnipotent, the mutant shaman, and he's terrifying to my cast of characters,” Cornell said. “That’s because he's exactly what they don't want in play right now: a very powerful, charismatic, alternative leader of mutant affairs. And a Summers, to boot. X-Man is dreaming his way back into the world, the deadliest possible hero.”
Unfortunately for the cast of “Dark X-Men” they’ll have no choice but to confront Nate Grey because he quickly becomes part of an important mission that Osborn tasks them with. “The story is called ‘Journey to the Centre of the Goblin’, and, though it won't become clear until towards the end, that's exactly what it becomes about, getting inside Norman Osborn's head,” Cornell revealed. “On the way, we encounter the world haunted by Nate, the cult that S.H.I.E.L.D. became, and the twisted psyches of our four leads, which skew the story in ways that might surprise you.”
. . .
Kirk couldn’t reveal much about the other characters he’ll be drawing in the mini-series but he is currently brainstorming possible looks for X-Man. “I haven’t drawn his grand entrance, yet but I suppose his look will be closer to his more recent appearance with the tattoo on his chest but there might be a few tweaks to his design. I’d rather not mess too much with it though. As much as I enjoy designing and redesigning characters, I prefer not to do it if it isn’t really necessary.”

Here's to hoping his comeback will be permanent, and he gets his own book once again......if i am correct, they cancelled X-man when it was marvels #6 comic at the time...all because Joe Q thought he was to confusing to readers.....maybe a big name at marvel wanted him back...i am happy...actually i am ecstatic

Well with Strfe dead, and Cable on the edge of dieing maybe they will kill him off and then X-man will get his own book, or maybe they will kill off x-man in dark x-men.

Isn't Stryfe alive and just possessed by Apoc? (i'm not sure since i'm a little behind current US issues; i'm living in Germany)

We might get lucky and the Dark team kills him at the end of the mini.
Never thought I'd be rooting for Dark Beast and Weapon Omega one day!

Weapon Omega vs X-Manmhmm.
X-Man could end up healing Cable, sacrificing himself in the processes.

Well, that would be a scenario i could live with. A healing through merging could indeed be interesting and wouldn't be too far fetched since they are pretty much genetical twins.

I'm glad he's coming back, I quite liked his character

This is good news.

Plus its how Nate was healed, and became known as Shaman.

Pretty much the same thoughts here, X-man was good in his day but they are simply bringing back that $hitty $tupid revolution (whick killed gen x and x-man) esque "Shaman" nate which was boring the minute it happened.....color me bored...........

So when does the comic hit the stores?
id369
Want to see a glimpse of what X-Man will look like? The artist is keeping true to his word, apparently only minor modifications.
People behold, Shaman X-Man.

A lot of mutants are being labeled as Omegas. I don’t put to much stock on it, Its just a classification.

I understand its importance or lack of (to some people)......i was surprised that it was stated at all, i have seen and heard so many reasons why he could not be an Omega mutant...so it was interesting to see it.

Interesting. If Nate Grey dismantled his mind and boy by application of his own mutant power….he can presumably be retrieved and reconstituted in the same way. - Dark Beast.
^^ It seems Nate always had the option to bring himself back. The real question is, what provoked him to return?

Sounds cool. What are his powers besides Eye Beams and telepathy?

This is from WIKI......
The character has the ability to tap into the enormous psychic resources of the astral plane in order to manipulate matter and energy. This grants him incredible psychic powers including telepathy and telekinesis. He can use his telepathy to read minds and even read residual thought imprints left on objects touched by people (psychometry), communicate with others by broadcasting his thoughts, control minds, create illusions by altering the perceptions of others, fire psionic blasts that can scramble an opponent's thought processes (causing the victim either intense pain, or rendering them unconscious), project his mind into the astral plane and even pull the astral projections of other telepaths into the physical world, and sense dimensional rifts or anomalies.
His telekinesis is so powerful he can move massive objects with his mind, fire blasts of psychokinetic energy that can shatter steel, create mental barriers that can stop most attacks, and levitate himself to fly at supersonic speeds. His control over his TK is so acute he can create holograms by mentally manipulating water molecules and dust to refract light, bend security lasers around himself to avoid detection, and even move the atoms of a wall around his own so that he passes through the wall like a ghost. He can even use his telekinesis to bend the Earth's magnetic field and create electromagnetic pulses.
An alternate version of Jean Grey, "Queen Jean" described Nate Grey as the ultimate telekinetic with the statement: "It is what all Nate Greys have been on every earth".
Upon examination by Moira Mactaggert, she suggested his psionic powers rivalled that of a Phoenix Force-imbued Jean Grey. In another instance, he was measured as having a psionic energy output matching that of the Dark Phoenix

Damm , don't mess with that guy.
