Ushgarak
Below are the original character and game background threads.

Mujaffa
Buttel, Hobbit with big hairy feet, has some skill with a dagger, job eat and sleep..Does often disapper and show up at extreme times..

Dexx
Vardalain, a noldor elf. animist. (i know it has the smallest background but tell me if this fits) He has extended knowledges about healing. ( i assume that implies SOME herbology) He dedicates most of his fighting experience towards bow training. (i want that to be his main offense). he carries a light armor and a sword.

Fitch
ok.I'm Palanfirith a High Elf.I handle the bow extremely good and for hand-to-hand combat I'm using 2 knifes(good handling).I always like to be focused and never loose temper. My job is RANGER,a good scout,so I try to keep my colegues away from danger.I use a light armor a very light one so my moves are fast and effective. As an artifact I have The Arrow Bag of Enrhosiel,a megical bag with an infinit number of elven crafted arrows(think it's legal, isn't it ?smile ).
I think that's all for now....if any other ideeas come into my head I'll put them here.

P.S:For nicks check http://www.barrowdowns.com/middleearthname.asp

mah
Aranui - Dunadain Ranger. good with bow, which he carries. also a sword. uses a pretty light armour. he has a gentle nature; dislikes war but is a good fighter, and acts valiantly in battle.

Fitch
oh,Ushwhat do you mean by 'Noldor get the least background ties' ?

Ushgarak
As I explained at the start, the more powerful your character, the less background advantages- money, equipment, positions, contacts and so on- you get. Noldor are the most powerful and so you get nothing other than the clothes you wear and weapons you carry. Aranui gets to be a member of the Royal Household of Gondor, whilst Buttel probably owns a fair bit of land and is quite rich from his exciting Hobbit gardening activities. Sorry, was I mocking Hobbits again?

Fitch
guess not.....roll eyes (sarcastic)

do not have connections and stuff I understand, but I'm treated like any other.right?
oh and another thing:what are we doing with the money if we travel all the time as a Fallowship ?

Ushgarak
Well, how you are treated is up to the others! But I have to overrule your magical quiver, I am afraid. That would be a bit much even for a human.

Fitch
well...ok.Then,I'm ready

Ushgarak
(You'll be using Elven weaponry, of course, which is just plain better than human stuff...)

narcil

Ushgarak
Gee, it's Elf city around here...

I think we'll need someone to take a Warrior. (Thinks).

FIRE!

mah
we need a dwarf!

Ushgarak
Could the Noldor Elves please choose where they come from? Your choices are Rivendell (in which case you are probably the son of one of Elrond's inner circle), Lothlorien (in which case you are an unusually adventerous member of Galadriel's hardcore weird followers) or Grey Havens (in which case you are a LONG way from home...)

Fire
hehe I won't take dwarf, sorry but I played way to many dwarves
I'm going for a Male Half-Elf (chose elf) Fighter named Zeratul
he was a sergeant or something like that in the army of Gondor, untill someone, most likely orcs, killed his wife. Then he gave up his duties as sergeant and began to hunt orcs in a violent way.
Speciality, one armed sword combat, without using shield and small group tactical combat

tell me if this is ok ush

Ushgarak
It's fine.

mah
nooooo, another elf! nothin' but elves around here..damn those pointy-eared bast....yeah.

Ushgarak
Well, he hasn;t been around long enough to be a full Elf so as a Half-Elf he will be more like man than Elf right now. But yes, it is an exceptionally gay party...

Dexx
i'll be from rivendell
elf predominance ws expected, no? I was this close to be a dunedain myself

Fire
no the elf dominance wasnt expected the ranger was expected dunedain a bit

narcil
*lol* hey---i am NOT gay. and incidentally, i have a question--it seems that all the characters have been established, by default, as male...?
oh yeah---and if it's an issue, i can make a different character (human), so as to diversify the party somewhat? ^_^*

Ushgarak
You can change characters, all Elves are gay and happy and they are male because the players have made them so...

narcil
*LOL* yes, i understood that's what you meant. (gay) i was just being bratty--my apologies. *lol*
just out of curiosity, does that word not have the connotation it does in north america?

Ushgarak
Obviously, but I doubt anyone had grounds to complain...

narcil
*lol* i wasn't really complaining---it was feigned indignation. *lol* sorry. ANYHOW!!! back to the rpg-theme: if deemed necessary, i'll be willing to change my character to accomodate a reduction in the percentage of elves in the 'party' -- i don't mind being a 'common man.' (don't wanna be a dwarf tho. *lol*)

Ushgarak
Okidokey, only I'll be putting things in motion soon so there will need to be some sort of consensus...

Fire
lol choose narcil, not ush or anyone for that matter, will force you to take a character.

one of the fun things about role playing is that you have a lot of freedom to work out your character

ofcourse in tournament games characters can be premade but normally players are allowed to make their own character
so don't feel forced to become human

Mujaffa
are u talking to me???????????????? mad any way here is my name: Holfast Hill from Deephallow
the first name is crap tis is the official one

Dexx
out of all the possibilillities..why a hobbit?

Mujaffa
well i don't want to be one of then happy elfes that have appered here, dwarfe....hell no, and man that i be every day..dude everybody needs to change from time to time..

Dexx
happy elves?

Mujaffa
i rest my case! laughing out loud

Dexx
scroll down and read.
I'm sure ush excluded the mating hobbits..aaa...habbits of middle earth creatures from the game.

Mujaffa
that was the happy elf party!!!!!!

Ushgarak
Actually, any of you who have read Fellowship of the Ring may remember that right at the very, very start, in the prologue, it talks about Hobbits and Arnor right in the very time we are playing. Hobbits even once sent bowmen as levies to the Arnor armies, and the King of Arnor was their King too. So fitting a Hobbit in is no trouble.

Just bear in mind most people will think you of no significance. Arnor is better than most places because the Hobbits live in it, but on the whole, no-one even knew who they were until Bilbo made them famous, 1000 years after all this.

narcil
*lol* ok!! ^_^ well in that case i think i'll just leave my character as it is, for now. ^_^ thnx!

Dexx
yeah..and they can throw things too. Mujaffa, you could be an expert stone thrower.

Bespin Bart
Anglomir -- Common Man Ranger of Gondor, Anglomir son of Aglomor was named after a distant ancestor that had fought valiantly at the battle in which the Ring was cut from Sauron's hand. He had been assigned the boring task of keeping watch over the Black Gate, and was one of many soldiers who gave up the task and moved on to fight the small uprising evil men battering at the borders of the Osgiliath. He knows that fighting Orcs and evil men is no joke, but can sometimes be overly confident in his fighting. He has some experience with a bow, but does not carry one. He is armed with a longsword that, according to the Steward of Gondor, his ancestor for whom he is named fought with at the great battle at the foot of Mt. Doom. He also has a throwing knife conceiled in his right gauntlet, which he can throw with the flick of the risk for a quick throw, or pull it out and throw it stronger and more accurately. Also has a forest green wooden shield trimmed with iron.

genral zink
William Took -- Also know as "Willy," he is a Hobbit of the Shire who longs for adventure beyond the borders of his hometown of Hobbiton on Bag-Shot Row. He is an excellent shot with small, Hobbit-sized bow, and has a slingshot for flinging small (but painful) iron balls at enemies, which he keeps a steady supply of in his pouch. If you gave him a sword, he'd ask you if it was an over-sized and extremely sharp butterknife.

Dexx, you better be careful about that stone-throwing Hobbits thing. You obviously haven't seen the extended Amon Hen fight scene in FOTR. Pippin and Merry take out quite a few Orcs with fist sized rocks...

Fitch
common people...that's the spirit smile

P.S:sry for delay but I had a lot of problems with my internet provider.

mah
now its starting too look like a real fellowship here!

Ushgarak
More like a small army. Just to confirm, we have:

- Vardalian, a Noldor Elf Animist, a herb-lore specialist with some knowledge in the bow with a back-up sword and light armour. A member of Elrond's household at Rivendell. (Dexx)

- Palanfirith, a Noldor Elf Ranger, a bow expert also trained with knives (a more haughty Legolas, basically). (Fitch)

- Aranui, a Dunadain Ranger also with bow, sword and light armour. Member of the royal household of Gondor. (Mah)

- Finuvien, a Silvan Elf Mage knowledgable in the power of water, an expert in lore and ancient languages, and knows how to use a bow. (Narcil)

- Zeratul, a Dark Protoss from... oops, sorry, a Half-Elven Warrior in the armies of Gondor, trained in one-handed shieldless fighting and group tactics. (Fire)

- Holfast Hill, a Hobbit from Deepfallow with some property to his name. I am assuming he is a warrior (frankly, that is all a Hobbit can be, as I left out the 'Thief' class, and they make neither Rangers nor magic-users). (Mujaffa)

- Talin Mithril-Helm, a Dwarven Warrior from Moria and lately from a smaller mine named Darud-Mor. Trained in fighting with an axe and chain mail (you could probably afford to think about a back-up weapon, there) (Rex)

- Anglomir, a man from Gondor, and Ranger A longsword fighter, equipped with a superb ancestral longsword, and not untrained in bowmanship and throwing knives. (BB)

- William Took, a Hobbit bowman, presumably also in funds (Genral Zink)

Nine is good...

I have some questions for players.

-I need to know where Palanfirith comes from

-Zeratul wanted to be an Elven Half-Elf. That doe not quite fit with his background- if he had chosen Elf he would come from an Elven background, not a human one. I recommened you take a human Half-Elf, which makes your background fine and keeps the Elven balance a little better.

-Talin and Holdfast both have a bit of laxity to add more weapons or other skills

-Anglomir seems more like a Warrior than a Ranger, with many references to weaponry but none to tracking or scouting. You can either switch to Warrior, or change one of those mentions of weaponry to something more ranger-like.

Nearly ready to go, folks!

Fitch
It was a hard decision but I made my mind:I wanted to be a Grey Elf,very far from home, but that meens that I'm nobody here and that's nasty.I prefer battles then magic,so I choose Rivendell.

oh,and Ush,by the way,did you meant haughty as arrogant ? couse that doesn't suit me.....smile

Ushgarak
You're a Noldor, arrogant by default. Why not take a Sindar?

Fitch
well,I think I'll stick to the Noldor character.I don't want to be exactly like Legolas ,and plus this is my first RPG and probably I'm not so good on building backgrounds. So,I'll keep my first choice.

Dexx
A small correction> My name is VARDALAIN not vardaLIAN

Fitch
big deal stick out tongue

Mujaffa
hey USh my name is Holfast not Holdfast....very important!!!!
some more skills you demand...let's see now....maybe a theif, like bilbo(without the ring!)can move fast and quiet trough woods and other places...and a fierce swordsman..Happy now??

Ushgarak
(Not that Bilbo was a thief). Okidokey.

Mujaffa
for the dwares at start he was yes...in the hobbit that is

Ushgarak
A lie from Gandalf.

Mujaffa
yes..but he turned out to be one almost during the book.. lurking around in the elfdungeon

Ushgarak
Even so...

I may allow further jobs at another time but I have little wish to complicate further.

Fitch
it's ok just as it is.but we should start as soon as you can(ush).....can't wait.

Bespin Bart
I'll switch over to Warrior then. Since Aranui is from Gondor too, we can be friends riding to Rivendell together! smile

Captain REX
4 Elves, 2 Men, 2 Hobbits, and a Dwarf. Quite a group...

I'll give Talin some experience with a small broadsword.

Fitch
nice group indeed.but aren't only 3 elves ?

can't wait for the maps and background from ush....

Captain REX
Actually, it's 3 Elves and 1 Half-Elf. I counted it as an Elf though. Who would want to give up eternal life and Elven powers?

Dexx
elros?

ush, i probably depleeted my background already but if there's anything left put all of it in bow weilding

Fire
I'll take the human side then smile

Ushgarak
BACKGROUND FOR: Aranui, Zeratul and Anglomir

It's an important time for Gondor as well. The line of Kings is looking shaky. Arvedui had a good claim, having married the daughter of the fallen King Ondoher, probably a better claim than Earnil II. Many think that the alliance of Arnor and Gondor should have been formalised so. But then, many disagree and are happy that Arvedui was kept at arms length.

To be fair, under Earnil you have driven the most recent invaders from your lands. The Wainriders were driven into the Dead Marshes several decades back, your only regret being that each of you was too young to fight in these great victories. But the succession is not strong (and before long the line will die entirely and be replaced by the Stewards who go on all the way down to Denethor II, the father of Boromir and Faramir) and many are worried. The threats around Gondor are many. Evil things still lurk in Mordor, the Wainriders would like to return, and there is always the threat of the Corsairs and Black Numoreans, your evil Dunadain cousins, striking from the south.

Many see new hope in the tentative alliance with Arnor. Many others think that Gondor cannot spare one single sword, crown or man for that place, all needed here. But Angmar seems so much more active a threat than Mordor... the sympathetic natures of many are with Arnor. An ambassador has been sent to Fornost and messages between Earnil and Arvedui are common. But as yet, there has been no military aid sent.

Some, like the father of Aranui, think the future of the Dunadain is in the alliance. Lord Erendurin may not be the purest of the Dunadain line, with no direct tie to the throne, but fought hard and well to drive out the Wainriders, earnt the respect of many, holds lands and commands many men. When he summons the three of you to his residence in Osgiliath- taking his own son from his scouting position on the Ithlien River (still unsafe territory), along with two members of his hand-picked team, the sergeant-at-arms Zeratul and his Lieutenant, Anglomir- you are expecting perhaps some sort of dangerous and daring secret mission against some new threat. Instead, all he seems to talk is diplomacy.

"There is a lot riding on who can make friends with the right people in Arnor," he says. "Arvedui is very keen to build relations... some around here are hesitant, but I think that gives as an opportunity... (when he says 'us', he is talking Dunadain talk. You other two are kept out. As a common man, Erendurin sees Anglomir more like a servant than a man. As a Half-Elf, he frankly thinks Zeratul is a freak).

"The problem is that I cannot build relations with the Arnor nobility by normal means. All communications with Arnor are still only possible by royal consent, to be sent by royal courier. I spoke to the King about it, but he does not think it is right time for too much interaction between our courts. But he did not forbid me from doing as I wished, he only failed to let me use his facilities.

"That is why I have called you, my son. You must go to Fornost-Erain, and introduce yourself to the King, and send my regards and friendship. Trust me, this will count for a lot. I know this may not exactly be the sort of task you are after but it is as much for the good of your familiy and Kingdom as any military mission. Besides, you never know WHAT might suddenly beset you at Arnor! It is a troubled place.

"And talking of troubles... you have learnt a lot quickly, my son, and are a capable man. But the journey to Arnor is unsafe, and getting less safe each day." He gestures to Anglomir and Zeratul. "You two must keep my son safe. You are as faithful an officer and sergeant as my son could ever have hoped to have under him. You may be no Dunadain, Anglomir, but your heart is strong. And I may not understand much about your ways, Zeratul, but rare is the outsider who gains promotion in our armies. Your skills must be great.

"But it is important you do not tell others. Many would be unimpressed to hear of me going behind the back of the Court like this. If you ACHEIVE something, some meaningful friendship, then I can present it as a boon to the King. Until then, stay silent. I will tell others you are on a deep patrol.

"And take a quiet route. Head north past Lothlorien and Moria and cross the mountains at Redhorn Pass. From there, go to Rivendell."

That shocks you.

"I know, I know," he says. "The Elves are strange folk and Elrond a being of inscrutable ways. But I hear Rivendell is more open than Lothlorien, and as a Dunadain you should be welcome there. And..." says Erendurin, hesitating in a 'I hate for you to think I am using you, but I am' sort of way, "Zeratul, I believe your Elven mother is from Rivendell... so if you present yourselves, you should be allowed inside... and it is a route that no couriers from Gondor will be taking. With luck, no-one will know of my plan until you reach Fornost itself, after resting at Rivendell. That part of the journey will be perilous indeed, so watch yourselves.

"Go now with my blessing."

Aranui, your father has a couple of extra words for you out of the presence of the other two.

"Listen, lad," he says. "Think about your OWN future as well. If you happen to come across any pretty Arnorian Dunadain women... preferably important ones... if you know what I mean? You like books and poetry and stuff, I am sure you will impress them..." Your father is a good man, Mah, but rather unimaginative, in your eyes.

"Oh, and if you can find someone to marry your sister it would be good too!" he calls after you, as you leave.

There is no need for you three to respond to this, it is just your set-up.

Fire
hmmmm, I agree to it

btw don't expect a lot of talking of Me,
I tend to be very quiet qnd might seem a bit moody from time to time
I also tend not to care much about anything so no fancy stuff for me stick out tongue
Last thing I hate religion

Zeratul

Dexx
..and you probably hate anything resembling those damned zergs and terrans. smilestick out tongue

Fitch
he DID choose the human side though......

Ushgarak
BACKGROUND FOR: Vardalain, Palanfirith and Finuvien
(this also continues the story above)

It was the Elves, advised by the Istari, who first suspected that Angmar was no mere alliance of Orcs and Dunlendings but a concerted effort by forces of their most ancient enemy, and their chiefs suspect the Witch-King to be one of the Nazgul. But there is little to be done. The Elven armies are few, and how the Witch-King would gleefully delight in seeing the defences of Rivendell stripped, for he has power enough to take Imladris itself should Elrond let down his guard. From the forest of Lothlorien, Galadriel watches much and does nothing, and Cirdan has done nothing from Grey Havens in a long time, save to provide a place for the departing Elves to go to leave Middle-Earth forever- save those Noldor who returned.

Elrond has lost much faith in man, even the Dunadain, when he watched Arnor turn on itself when it should have unified against Angmar. For their part, the humans think the Elves have betrayed them, and not offered help, that the old alliance is broken forever. But Rivendell remains an open town, a powerful bastion against evil where all travellers are welcome, and there is still hope that Elrond may have some plan to deal with Angmar.

As members of Elrond's household, Vardalain and Palanfirith know these problems well. Finuvien, your people have also long felt the effects of the growing shadow. A thousand years ago, mankind called your home the Greenwood. Now it is called the Mirkwood, as it has become twisted and evil, and even the power of the Sindar and Silvan Elves there finds it hard to keep the evil at bay. The rise of Angmar at the same time cannot have been coincidental, though for a long while you Silvans have long considered this to be an issue for man, not you. You owe man little. But after centuries in which it seems that a whole civilisation might fall, there has been some whisper that this issues cannot be seperated forever, and you are not a heartless people. You conferred with your Sindar neighbours, and they confirmed your fears that should Angmar be victoroious, his forces will cross the moutains and surely strike down your lands next. Your people were persuaded to send an emissary to Rivendell to talk with Elrond, and that emissary was you. Elrond has long advised that if you wish to see the problems faced by Arnor you should travel there yourself, but you have been nervous to do so.

One day, Elrond summons the three of you to his house, with iths beautiful view of Imladris. There with him already are three people- men.

As far as you Noldor are concerned, this is an odd gathering. One is apparently Half-Elf. It is not wise to think ill of such a person in Elrond's presence, though you understand he has chosen his human heritage first. You do not wish to criticise, but you do not understand. One is a Dunadain and so at least worth some measure of respect. The other is a common man, little more than the wild tribal men that your Elders speak of existing many thousands of years back. You have no idea why he has been allowed here- he must be the Dunadain's baggage man, or something.

"Welcome," says Elrond, and introduces the six of you to each other. "These three are travellers from Gondor, a Dunadain noble Aranui and his retinue. They have come to partake of my hospitality, and intend some diplomatic journey to Fornost-Erain."

Finuvien, you are suspicious of these men, but sense no ill-will from them. Especially from the common man, who seems as bewildered of his surroundings as you are of him!

"As you know," says Elrond, "the journey to Arthedain has not been safe since Cardolan finally fell apart. Orc and Dunlending raiding parties roam through the countryisde, sometimes moving onto the East-West road which you must travel. Law and order does not exist in the Cardolan countryside any more, only in the few towns and fortresses that remain untaken. Once you reach the Arthedain borders you will be safe but you would do well to take precautions. But I have no riders I can spare for your protection.

"But your presence here allows me to solve several problems at once. Vardalain, Palanfirith, I have chosen you for a task of mine. It is time King Arvedui knew that Rivendell is not silent to his plight, that we are taking some measure of interest in events outside our walls. I wish you to go to Fornost, and simply be present, as friends. I am not sending you as emissaries- you go simply as travellers, as proof that we still consider his lands friendly ones. Do not let him think that your presence heralds our aid. He must understand that every fighting man I have is needed to patrol the lands around here, that already we hold large orc forces at bay along the Bruinen River, and that Imladris must secure itself much as Fornost must look to its own defence.

"And Finuvien, you know that I have considered it wise that you go to Fornost and see the situation in Arnor for yourself. Now yoy may all go together." He steps back, turns, and faces you all. "You may all escort each other," he says. "Aranui, consider these members of my household my gift as escort to you on your journey, and I am sure my Silvan cousins would be glad for Finuvien to do the same. On my part, I consider it a favour that you will bring my fellow Elves safely to Arnor as well. It forms a perfect circle.

"You should get to know each other. You will leave soon," finishes Elrond.

Dexx
so far so good..i like it

Fitch
me too....it's great.can't wait for that map.....

Bespin Bart
I'm a meer baggage man and servant? Hell with that...

Bespin Bart
Also, Anglomir looks fierce, but is kind to others (except Orcs and Dunlendings and Easterlings and all other folk who hate him)

Captain REX
laughing out loud

So where do the Hobbits and Dwarves fit in to this?

Ushgarak
Do I sense some common man/Elven tension already? Goody!

Remaining three players get backgrounded in tomorrow, promise.

Ushgarak
Oooh, nasty places, Rex. Mostly lands of bad men.

BACKGROUND FOR: Talin, William and Holdfast

SOME might say that looking for business opportunities in a war is rather naked avarice. Dwarves prefer to think of it as part of the commerce that drives the world... Talin, your small but vigorous mine is always after new customers. But the Elves and humans of Arnor, if they need Dwarven produce at all, tend to trade directly with Khazad Dum (Moria).

But apparently there is a large settlement of Halflings in the western half of Arnor. These Hobbits tend to keep themselves to themselves but they need raw goods as much as anyone... it's an unused market that your people badly need, working a small mine so near to the shadow that creeps across the land. Hobbits are odd people, but very much of your 'perspective'. Too much hair down below and not enough up top, but even so...

Establishing contact with the Hobbits was not easy, for not many people were willing to take messages across these dangerous lands. FInally you did make contact with them, and even found two willing to venture out to talk business with you...

These two are William and Holfast- rich, tough, resourceful Hobbits who greatly surprirsed their peers by leaving their home, and agreeing to meet you in Rivendell, something Elrond found amusing enough to have no objection to, and Talin is known as a friend to Elves, in any case.

And so you meet, and talk business. The journey from the Hobbits was not easy. You had to hide many times and even kill two Dunlendings that tried to waylay you, not knowing you are tougher than you look.

It is clear no trade route is ever going to succeed without escort! And neiother Hobbits nor the Dwraves can practically provide such escort. Nervously, you ask Elrond.

Elrond, who seems troubled, listens half-heartedly to your request.

"I cannot be sparing my riders to look after materials for greedy Dwarves and Hobbits!" he snaps. Then he seems to calm, and apologises.

"These are troubled times," he says. "But if your arrangement were to benefit them, the Arthedain people may be willing to provide such men to aid you. The detaisl of which I am sure you can arrange themselves. Put yourselves in their good graces and your task may be easier still." He looks thoughtful. "But it is a dangerous journey, as you have discovered...

"I know of six capable beings setting out to Fornost-Erain tomorrow. Go with them, for safety, yours and theirs. Go to King Arvedui's court and tell him of your request. And after all..." he says, looking at William and Holfast, "maybe your people have ignored the troubles of your King for too long. And maybe the Dwavres should see what forces assail the remnants of Arnor. Maybe there is much to be learnt for all here...

"I shall tell the others you are joining them. Fare thee well, brave travellers."

Alarik
Naelin - Dunedain ranger with a very light, fast fighting technique, with both sword and bow. Exceptional scout and tracker

Bespin Bart
Uh oh! We have a straggler!

Welcome to the board Alarik. smile

Fitch
welcome abrod.I think Ush has to make him a background too

Mithrandir
im sry, but i dont know jack about RP, but I'd like to join...could i get in on this?

Dexx
dunno....Ush says if he can blend you into the sotry.

Fitch
just talk to him...

Ushgarak
Actually quite easy with this Silvan 'vibe' we have. Surprised to see no Sindar, though; I thought Legolas would have championed the Sindar cause.

Dexx
Feanor takes his spot big grin

Fitch
I am kinda like Legolas but not a Sindar though...big grin

Ushgarak
Yeah, I can see why everyone wants to be Feanor, arrogant bastard who doomed his people to diasater...

Though going out fighting a flock of Balrogs is a good way to go.

Dexx
(the balrogs picture is really beyond my imagination...how can you fight black flaming creatures ten time your size?)

i try to see the artistic side of feanor.
I think i tend more towards the fingolfin branch

Ushgarak
As a Noldor, you HAVE to be from one of the three branches.

And because he was THAT hard, that is how. He was probably mostly immune to the fire and the weapons they had in those days were lethal.

Dexx
ok..immune to fire. But they were several...and it's enough for one to step on ya.
Bwah...anyway..i'm surr Tolkien didn't put them without a sense

Ushgarak
They were more than several, they were many, but Feanor is the most powerful Elf that ever was, with great powers, who created something even the Valar could not.

And they DID kill him...

Athrina
I'm Athrina Lestrang, a vampire... But for this RPG I am Nyneve Vallandir, one of the Dark Elves. I can handle a bow quite well, thank you, and am also skilled with a broadsword. I carry boot knives and can also send darts of magic at people. As for appearance, Nyneve has long, blond hair (no I'm NOT a Legolas freak... I really do have blond hair) and green eyes that can flash at will (also real). I wish I could be my normal vampiric self, but this is an LOTR rpg and there are no vampires there... *pouts*

Ushgarak
Well... not in THIS age, anyway.

Ok, I feel honour-bound to point out that Dark Elves in LOTR are a very different thing from Dark Elves in other fantasy genres. 'Moriquendi' is Elven for Dark Elf, and it is a term applied to any Elvenkind that never went out West. So that is either Sindar or Silvan, so you would still need to choose which.

And you will need to choose a job also; from the list at the start of this thread.

Gil-Galda
Gil-Galda, a dundain mage, with skill in ancient language and monster(balrogs etc...)and training with earth bound magic. Carries a staff and a curved elven sword(very light) with mithril chainmail.

Dexx
mithril chainmail...don't know

Ushgarak
Indeedy- welcome aboard, btw, but the mithril chainmail is way too much. You could buy your own city with that.

PM me if you are still interested and I will fit you in ASAP.

Captain REX
I'm glad Gil found his way here... smile

Gil-Galda
ok then elven plate mail

Captain REX
What's plate mail? Is it plate armor plus mail for protection?

Gil-Galda
its pading under mail under plate armour

Evy_O
Hi all! May I join? smile The IC is that entitled 'LOTR RP Game part 1- Journey to Fornost' ?

Ushgarak
Most certainly you can join. Run through the character creation thread and put something together, and read the story background. Then I can fit you in once the current battle is done!

Evy_O
Okay, thanks. But they way I'm used to give char details is like that:
Name:
Age:
Sex:
Personality:
Appearance:
History:

Should I change it and do it like others here?

Ushgarak
So long as you follow the rules in the character creation thread I am not greatly worried how you do it!

Evy_O
Okaaay, I'll give it a try. But english is not my first language, I worn you!

Ushgarak
So warned. Same for many of the players.

Evy_O
Really? Cool, that's kind of comforting!

Ushgarak
Yup. Over half of them do not have English as their first langauge, actually.

Evy_O
May I PM you a sample bio to see if it's appropriate?

Ushgarak
Absolutely, feel free.

Evy_O

Bespin Bart
Hurray! A new person. smile

Evy_O
LoL, thanks stick out tongue

Captain REX
I agree with BB. smile

You'll probably get in next game, Evy O. We're just rounding up the last one. If you've been reading it, you'll know what I mean.

My character is the most injured person in the game. Fractured shoulder, broken ribs, skewered by a javelin... big grin

Ushgarak
Nostariel is at Fornost.

Captain REX
Oh, even better. We'll see her when we get there. smile

Dexx
not quite my man.....my character's probably dead by now

Ushgarak
As Farael says, Noldor don't die easy.

Dexx
but what stopped them from finishing me off...

Ushgarak
Because as I recommended you lay there and did not move.

Dexx
oh..'play dead' works..wohoo

Evy_O
Thanks, Rex, you may call me Evy. The "O" is just for... fun stick out tongue
And laughing out loud laughing out loud

And what am I doing at Farnost, if I may ask?
Also, is there a character list somewhere?

LilySatine
Are there any free spots for me? angel My love for Lord of the Rings seems to fit in right here! If the answer is 'yes', I shall post a bio. smile

Captain REX
Yes, there is. I'll post the updated version right away because I'm so nice. big grin

Captain REX
I'm sure Ush can fit you in, Lily. smile

LilySatine
Thanks a bunch! *Waits patiently* smile

Captain REX
Here it is Evy. smile

William Took -- A hobbit archer from the Shire. (genral zink)

Andorial -- An Elven Mage, experienced with electricity, who travels around Middle-Earth. (rusky)

Aniica Woodland -- An Silvan Elven healer who joined the Fellowship in a Cardolan camp. (Aniica Woodland)

Anglomir -- A warrior from Gondor with an ancestral sword. (Bespin Bart)

Finuvien -- An Silvan Elven Mage, experienced with water, who also wields a bow. (narcil)

Zeratul -- A Half-Elven who has accepted his human heritage in Gondor. (Fire)

Aranui -- A Dunadan, highly revered in both Gondor and the Fellowship. (Mah)

Talin -- A Dwarf from Darud-Mor, a smaller mine, and good with an axe. (Captain REX)

Palanfirith -- An Elven Ranger who is trained in using a bow and knives. (Fitch)

Vardalain -- A Noldor Elven healer from Rivendell, who also uses a bow and light armor. (Dexx)

Captain REX
Also, you might have to wait awhile, Lily. Ush is not on currently.

LilySatine
That's fine with me! Gives me some time to think up a bio, if accepted. roll eyes (sarcastic)

Captain REX
Good. smile

So we have 2 new faces for the end of this game and for next game, Evy and Lily. Very cool. smile

Dexx
god..that was one LOOOONG battle

Ushgarak
Excellent! New player, welcome Lily, please, feel free to make up a character (character creation thread should be nearby) and post it here! PM me if you have any questions. Evy, I shall shortly update you on why you are at Fornost-Erain.

Dexx, you it was. LOTR lends itself to large fights- but there were only about 250 beings total in that scrap. When it comes to doing a battle as large as Helm's Deep- and believe me, there are battles LARGER than that coming!- I may have to dedicate an entire story to it. Oooooh!

We seem to have lost track of Andorial, Zeratul and even Palanfirith lately. But we still have a good number of players! More than enough, and with two new recruits we are blessed!

Evy_O
Lily! You joined! YAY!!!!
Thanks a whole bunch, Rex, that was helpful stick out tongue

Ush, Lily and Nostie are going to be friends at the RPG... if possible stick out tongue

Ushgarak
Oh blimey. I hope Lily gets her background in fast, I was putting you in the game tonight, Evy!

LilySatine

Evy_O
There's her bio... If it's approved, can we both be put in the game tonight? stick out tongue

Ushgarak
Would it irritate you two if you were sisters? Don;t worry about it if it means too much background changing, only it would reduce the amount of Elf/Human liasions going on, which the Tolkien purists could already go on at me about....

Either way I shall get you both in ASAP. Background is just fine, Lily. Now, have you read the story background thread? It is important that you do as the setting is 1000 years before the films.

Ushgarak
Oh, and yeah, Lily, do you have any preference as to which kind of Elf your mother was?

And would you rather come from Rivendell, Lorien or the Grey Havens?

LilySatine
That's fine, Ush!! Great idea! Evy, change yours first, and I'll build mine around yours. stick out tongue

Evy_O
We don't mind. Wait, we'll talk about it on MSN about the changes at the background and we'll both edit.

Ushgarak
You are on MSN? Add me! Add me! It is how I keep in touch with most of my RPers.

In case you did not see it on the last page, Lily...

"Oh, and yeah, Lily, do you have any preference as to which kind of Elf your mother was?

And would you rather come from Rivendell, Lorien or the Grey Havens?"

Evy_O
Add you how? What your MSN adress?

I answer on behalf of Lily: Mother will be a sindarin elf, and Lily from Rivendell.

I'm changing the bios atm, but I can't seem to edit my post... messed It says:

The administrator has specified that you can only edit messages for 60 minutes after you have posted. This limit has expired, so you must contact the administrator, or one of the moderators to make alterations on your message.

Ushgarak
It's on my profile. Or PM me your MSN name. Also PM me how you want stuff edited and I shall do it.

Evy_O
Ok, I will do both stick out tongue
Lily says she tried it from your profile but it didn't work... messed

Ushgarak
Yeah, that happens, dunno why...

Captain REX
Ush letting people onto his profile?!?!

Oh well, he's in charge anyway...

Well, I was the most injured until Vardalain tried to come to my rescue. Dexx, you stole my title...

Also, doesn't it kinda seem like Talin and Vardalain have formed one of those Legolas/Gimli type of friendships?

Dexx
stick out tongue....

i'd be gald to loose the 'most injured' title big grin....at least i survived..phew!

Ushgarak
Good Lord NO, Rex. As in they tried to add me into their MSN list with the info from my profile.

Talin and Vardalain... well, maybe the 'most injured' club...

Dexx
why do i have this big 'lack of utillity' feeling in this battle?

Captain REX
Because we had a lack of utilities...I suppose.

Dexx
oh...we had plenty of utilities

Ushgarak
I think it is always going to be clear that a Warrior has more use than an Animist in a big fight.

Dexx
yes, yes, ofcourse
*whispers*
so.....are animists that important anyway?

Ushgarak
Yup!
