lil bitchiness
Obviously, Turks are doing this to appease France as well as EU in order to get into the said institution.
It will not be positive in its entirety until Turkey admits the genocide they have perpetrated against Armenians.

Indeed. Quite clearly pressure was put on as part of Turkey's entry to the European Union.

Ms.Marvel
you should try to tie the story into Britney spears life somehow.

If you donīt put the past behind you, you canīt progress. Whatīs what the Ottoman empire did 100 years ago hasnīt much to do with todays generation.
Turkey shouldnīt be allowed in the EU, middle ages muslim countries aint good for progress.
WhoopeeDee
On a personal note...back in my High School days I remember the Armenian teens hating turks...back when we had Homecoming the main event wasn't the rival football teams...it was the rumbles between armenians and turks....crazy times.

Turkey shouldnīt be allowed in the EU, middle ages muslim countries aint good for progress. The Turks can keep the land, the Armenian ancient churches are still there, so it doesn't matter. I think just accepting the fact that the Ottoman Empire committed the genocide can lead to much further progress.
And I'm pretty sure Turkey will now be in EU.

Unfortunately most Americans care more about a 6 year old American child being suspended than they do about genuinely important international political developments.
Such is life indeed.

Turkey's joying the EU, great. Faux-secularist clowns.
They'll probably be outbreaks of violence now because of this specifically.
Just be best if they go back to openly hating each other, instead of shaking hands with the right, while concealing a dagger with the left.

This is happening in Europe thus they shouldn't care.

Given that it's happening in a country where they keep a large stockpile of their nuclear weapons and where their proposed missle defence system then you think they should care.

though, to be honest guys, kids getting kicked out of school impact the lives of the average American far more than token gestures made by foreign nations.
is this more important on a grand scale? sure, but most people don't give a shit about the grand scale

Well Germans will be thrilled if Turkey enters EU. And French - they may even throw a festival on the streets of Paris...involving a lot of...people.
