Mr. Rhythmic
So by my teacher's request, I have had to read the book 'Nervous Conditions'. I am just about finished with the book, and I must say that this is a bad book. I understand its strong message, but I feel like it's a story that could've been told in 100 pages told in 300. I really feel as if most of the book is filler, with the plot being stretched out. Whenever Tambu(the main character) is about to enter a new plot point, we are always diverted to mini plots that are either boring or put the characters in a bad light.
Tambu, the main character, is pretty unlikable by most standards. She is constantly cold towards those that care for her most, and act as if no one matters but herself. Same with her uncle(another main character) Babamukuru, who at first seems like a strong man, but soon becomes a controlling, selfish, violent jerk who can't even use the term 'cultural differences' to justify how he punishes people.

Personally, I highly dislike this book, and do not plan on reading its sequel.

What did you think about the book?
