there have been a lot of sports movies over the years..

what are some of your faves..

here are a few of mine, but in no particular order..

The Natural

Field of Dreams

Any Given Sunday

North Dallas Forty

Kovacs86
Raging Bull's possibly the best if it can in any way be called a sports movie, which I'd hesitate to do. The genre is SO predictable and cliched, but Rocky's about as good as it gets in its confines.

jaden101
I don't usually like sports movies that are based around predominantly American sports but Remember the Titans is superb and highly underrated.

Raging Bull
The Hurricane
The Hustler
Happy Gilmore
Caddyshack
The legend of Bagger Vance

There's quite a few.

T.M
Remember The Titans is one of my favs

MildPossession
I find the sports genre one of the most boring when it comes to film, so can't really think of many. Blades of Glory was one I enjoyed a lot, but not a serious sports movie...

Mr. Rhythmic
No contest whatsoever.

I have to say "Remember the Titans." Although it sparked copycats galore, I'll always remember "Remember the Titans" as the first type in a long time of the inspirational sports movie.

The Longest Yard (1974) original

The Longest Yard is a 1974 American comedy sports-drama film about inmates at a prison who play American football against their guards. Burt Reynolds portrayed Paul "Wrecking" Crewe in the original, and the coach Nate Scarborough in the 2005 remake. The 1974 original was also the basis for the 2001 movie Mean Machine (a shortened version of the title used for the original's UK release), starring Vinnie Jones as Danny Meehan, based on the character of Paul Crewe, and featuring association football instead of American football. Green Bay Packers legend Ray Nitschke appeared in the 1974 version as did the country legend George Jones.

Rocky 1-5
Mean Machine (very funny)

There's not really a lot I've seen, most sports movies are really drama with a bit of sport played around the story, so it tends to not be about the sport itself for some.
