Adam Warlock awakens early and, thru his premonitions, discovers the Annihilation Wave is coming. He pops out of his cocoon and gathers forces from all over the cosmos to repel the invasion force before they cause the destruction they wrought in the Annihilation Wave saga.

Due to the focus on self-interests, the Kree, Skrull and Shi'Ar empire do NOT directly participate in the War, but each instead sends in a token force to take on the Wave.

Consider all the ff to be pre-Annihilation versions.

Big Guns

Silver Surfer
Red Shift
Firelord
Terrax
Stardust
Thor (before he lost the Odinpower)
BRB
Sersi
Sentry
Gladiator
X-Man (use current version)
WWH
Juggernaught (they paid him to join)
Quasar

The Generals

Black Bolt
Super Skrull
Ronan the Accuser
Drax (Current)
Nova Prime
Adam Warlock
Gamorra w/ Godslayer
Ikaris
Captain America
Iron Man (Extremis)
Nick Fury
Reed Richards (no uber plot device invention allowed, but he can come up with weapons and devices to help the main force).

The Main Force

The Nova Corps
Asgard
Eternals
S.H.I.E.L.D.
The Inhumans (they're allowed to use their giant ship)
Token Kree force of 1000 Sentries
Token Shi'Ar force of 300 Shi'Ar Warbirds
Token Skrull force of 1000 Enhanced Skrulls from Invasion saga

Do they succeed in repeling the Annihilation Wave or do they get run over by it?

How about Dr. Strange, Dormammu, Mephisto, etc.?

Let's assume that Strange stayed on Earth due to some threat.

Only the group above was assembled.

I think they hold it off for awhile, but lose.

There was a What If? where after beating, well, all the assembled forces, and with Galactus not waking up like he did in the main series, they continue on, pretty much finishing off the Kree too, and then the assembled heroes of Earth are on the losing end until they finally succeed via total plot device (well, technically Terminus device). Pre-plot device, the Wave still had significant number and was still winning.

So this collective force? They all fall eventually. Some get turned by parasites, some die to the bugs, the Centurions and Seekers are probably responsible for a lot of casualties, and while the Wave takes some damage, it continues.

This wave, however, doesn't have Galactus as a weapon.

It was doing pretty well even without him- remember that they only brought in the Centurions, a really major force, fairly late in the game, and if Galactus wasn't in the plan, then the Seekers and Ravenous can join in the fray directly too.

They were doing as well as they did with a force equal to the Nova Corps as mere reserves and a half-dozen Herald-types distracted with a side task and not involved in offensive operation.
