It's probably ball lightning. Something that happens more often in the UK and Ireland. It's where the whole myth about Will-O-The-Wisps came from

They're still not sure what causes it but last I heard, the leading theory on what it is is some kind of low energy plasma. Basically the same shit mega man shoots out.

The Will-O-Wisp legends come from Ireland. They thought ball lightning was a physical manifestations of the insane souls of stillborn and aborted (naturally or otherwise) children.

The other phenomenon that this could be is Earthquake lights. Has there been any seismic activity or are there any active fault lines near the area?
