Maybe SW will come out on Blu Ray a few years before the next movie format comes out. Hahaha.

Or just after. I can just imagine Lucas considering bringing out SW on solid state in say.... twenty years or so.

But George Lucas could do both - release only the Special Editions to Blu-ray, and show the world he is in charge of his franchise, not the fans. Or release both versions to Blu-ray and double dip.
No matter what - he wins.

Money wise he always wins.

Probably sooner. I'm betting the 3D versions will get released to theatres, just in time to help promote the new live action series.

Of which we have not heard much for a while.
