Obama is just...just....facepalm. I don't even know how to describe the stupidity from this guy.

inimalist
this has been common from both sides of the aisle for years, don't try to act like this has anything to do with Obama, people don't understand games, thus it is easy to manipulate them by talking about it.

Wild Shadow
i dont have a problem with his comment.. entertainment is used to divert us some times purposely as an evil agenda via the NWO shifty

and some times by parents to lazy to spend time with their kids but, also most importantly by us individuals when we could be doing more like learning new things or reinforcing our education.

maybe invent something or learn a new skill... etc etc..

if obama stands up for both races and supports both why is he making his speech only at a black college ?

Because unlike the Multiple Man be can only be in once place at a time. Hampton isn't a "black college" anymore than my highschool was a "white highschool".

You know, now that I look at the article Obama hardly bashes consoles or games, he's just noting that we're constantly bombarded with information and distractions.

He did, Hampton College allows students of all races. I even said that in the post you responded to.

Because it happens to have a predominantly black student body and was once blacks only. The second part is no long true as searches that go beyond reading page title will quickly make clear.

Fanboys and Fangirls.

Never argue with them....they will just lower any discussion to their level of idiocy and win by default.

everyone that supports obama gets upset when someone puts down obama but the supporters can never explain why they support him.

Because these things just happen overnight, right?

He's been in office barely a year. These sorts of things take years to accomplish, which apparently most people do not realize.

again im giving my reasons why i dont support him.

how come i dont get any responses from anyone why they support him ?

of course I did, but the way you phrased it, both sentences seemed to be independant of eachother...

did you really mean to say "All Obama supporters get upset when he is put down, immediatly failing to, without being asked, instigate a conversation where they outline why they support Obama to someone who is putting him down"?

because that just seems silly

Not the sharpest tool in the box, is he?...Completely forgetting the fact that THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A DISTRACTION. Something has to distract the world from the massive ****ing hole it's in. If we all gave up on xbox's and other "distractions" there would be chaos as everyone would be burning their seats of goverment to the ground for the complete ineptitude they've shown over the last....forever.

Liberator
Obama sounded overhyped to me. Not really sure about his policies but I can remember talking to a friend of mine who said all this bollocks about 'great change' in America. Haven't seen that at all, in fact, isn't the fellow deploying more soldiers to the War of Terror?

How soon we forget the election debates... no script, no teleprompter and he did perfectly fine, while Palin tried sticking to a script and failed even at that lol.

Games are a choice.
They're fun.
We play them.

Boy A sits in his room and reads Harry potter for 4 hours a night.
Boy B sits in his room and plays Xbox for 4 hours a night.

They've both done their homework, both sat down to a family meal, there isnt any logical reason for the media to frown upon boy B over Boy A. It just shows how out of touch the people in high places are.

Playing a video game can be more intellectually stimulating that reading a Harry Potter book, for sure.

Logic puzzles abounded in KoTR. Oh the colored rings of death on Korriban. laughing

Consoles, Online chating and mind numbing TV shows are stealing the current generation away from reality.

The parents need to control their use more, let the kids learn about the technology and have fun, but lets not let them forget where they are and how to make stuff like bread in case a zombie apocalypse or some other disaster put humanity back to the basics.

You're pretty thin. Prolly too thin. So do you work out? How do you keep healthy?

For people like Robtard and I, we enjoy working out...but we still game and do internet stuff. Else we'd probably be fat or out of shape.

People have to do something to keep from wasting away into a Wall-E type human.

healthy?

lol, its been a year since I wans't starving myself from keito-acidosis, so staying healthy at this point is trying to work 3 meals a day into my schedule.

and yes, I'm much too thin, I've managed to put on 20-25 lbs since diagnosis, but its much more of a habit thing than anything else, I went years with my appetite being messed up, and its still weird to get hungry 4-5 hours after eating a full meal (the keito-acidosis caused me to just get nausiated instead of hungry, the only way I knew I had to eat was when I was about to fall over)

I enjoy it, but its new, and I'm 25. Schedules have been a weakness of mine since I was 8, so actually getting a regiment going and keeping it up is difficult for me, but even then, just going out and walking to chuff a j or anything like that is enough to prevent real health problems from inactivity.

The amount of excersize necessary to be "healthy" is amazingly low, however, you wont see me benching any time soon (I guess a year ago, when I was into it, I could do 50 push-ups in a row, which is good for me, and I prefer cardio-endurance stuff to lifting anyways)

actually, being thin has few long term term health problems (in fact, some research suggests being underweight may be linked to longevity). Its a little unattractive (to some), and there are strength issues, but when it comes to important measures, I've got a clean bill of health (A1C levels non-withstanding), including low blood pressure (rare amongst diabetics).

The problem is just getting no excersize. Kids sit in front of the tv, get a drive to school, where they get driven to a friends house from, and sit in front of a TV.

No, it does not need to be controlled. What needs to be controlled are the parents supervision. It is the parents responsibility to know what games their young ones are playing. The government should be the last people to have a word on the Video Game industry. Their noses do not belong anywhere near my games.

MW2>Government.

NYAH!

Thats what I mean, The parents need to do their jobs, people should be working instead of skipping and playing games. I didnt mean that the Gov should control them.

I don't agree with the second part of what he said. Especially not with the iPad, as that can obviously be used in many very constructive and useful ways. I don't exactly understand why he went out of his way to say he can't work them, though...a retarded monkey can work the iPhone OS and 360s are hardly hard to work, definitely not harder than the Blackberry he constantly used during his campaign. Now, Games are in their nature often conceived as distraction, however he could make similar arguments about every art form (though admittedly Games are less evolved as art form). On the whole I can understand his sentiment, I think it was unnecessary though to particularly pick out these platforms.

And I assume he means the iPod touch, cause everyone can work the standard iPods. Additionally there's hardly any bombardment of distraction on it that hasn't been available for 25 years. I wonder though whether he has any Mp3 player or whether he listens to music at all. I remember reading an interview where George Bush told about what music he had on his iPod.

He likely believes they're used for gaming and watching videos, what he calls a "distraction", he said he's ignorant on their overall use.

All in all, he's not really that wrong, I spent 2 hours online playing my game; I could have used those two hours for far better things. Reading, reading with my daughter, playing with my kids, working out, fixing the little to-do projects around the house, there's probably more I can't think off the top of my head.

He's 1/2 negro, of course he listens to music.

Well, he insulted three categories of products I like, I'm not much of a fan of iPods though and I'd rather get a different slate pc, the 360 is mint though.

You could read with your daughter on the iPad.

But yeah, like I said I see where he's coming from. Obviously it depends on what your priorities are, if you played a couple hours with 2 good friends, that can be some quality time But his point wasn't about the platforms, though badly phrased, just about the bombardment of information, especially trivial information, which can happen with many different devices, likely including some he uses and cherishes himself.
