Yuu Kaito vs Light Yagami

LLLLLink
Both Characters are within Yuu Kaito's territory.

marwash22
Given Kaito's nature of giving his name to his opponent, light wins because writing is non-violent. Although, if Kaito automatically restricts the use of all letters (which includes writing), he negates the notebook.

If it happens that way, it then becomes a battle of wits and i think Kaito is a bit more intelligent than Light.

LLLLLink
Kaito is smart, but I think Light deserves more credit than that. Only reason he ended up dying is because Teru was a disobedient idiot.

marwash22
this is hard to judge because there's no real way to determine who is smarter. Kaito, as far as we know was second only in intelligence to a centuries old demon. Light had at least three people in his world that were his mental equal.

If preparation is involved, i say Light wins because strategy-wise he is uber intelligent. But if it becomes a scenario like it was when Kaito faced Kurama, where both are forced to think under pressure... i dunno if Light is on that level.

LLLLLink
Well, according to the official "How to Read" Deathnote guide, Light had the most intelligence of any character, tied only with Near. He had the highest stat total as well.

Kento
It all really depends on how Kaito decides to use his territory. If he does a game like he did against Kurama then it's likely whoever gets the last letter in before time runs out would be the winner as Light probably won't do anything like Kurama did.

LLLLLink
Well, if Kaito goes unconscious or falls asleep somehow, his territory will fade. Just keep that in mind. Also, Kaito's territory is uber. I want one.

Kento
That's not really a point worth making and Kaito can do a lot to end the game quickly. Light could potentially end up slipping, and doing like Kuwabara did and not realize it. I don't think Kurama would've realized it either if Kuwabara hadn't of done it.

LLLLLink
Hiei was an idiot, lol.

Wrong

L was stated to be the smartest character in the series by the author (Not counting the Shinigami), and Near himself said that L was far above him in intellect.

L had Light outsmarted over and over, Light only won due to a blatant plot device.

No, the "How to Read" book (which I got the info from) was written by Tsugumi Ohba, the author of Deathnote. So what you really have is a contridiction. That is, if you can post some proof of your statement.

FinalAnswer
How about the fact that L has greater feats of intelligence then Light?

How about the fact that L had Light outmaneuvered, and if not Rem, he would have lost.

How about Near and Mello, people of far inferior intelligence then L (Near directly said that he was nowhere near as smart as L, so Near = Light > does not make any sense)

Ohba said that L is the smartest character in the manga because "the plot requires it".

Ohba, Tsugumi (2008). Death Note 13: How to Read. Viz Media. p. 215. ISBN 1-4215-1888-0.

Death Note 13: How to Read describes L in the Death Note yonkoma as the "holder of the world's greatest mind" and having the "powerful ability to act like a fool". Death Note 13: How to Read adds that in the yonkoma "it's like born to be mocked".

Hur. I win.

Nope, I have pictures. I win.

Poor, diluted LLLLLink. Oh how he so loves his precious self-righteousness.

The statements from the same book cancel out the pics. Furthermore, evidence from the manga itself reinforce the fact that L is the smartest in Death Note.

No, the pics cancel out the statements. erm
Furthermore, the evidence from the manga shows that L died first because he just wasn't smart enough. 'Nuff said.

FinalAnswer
Nah.

L died due to Rem the blatant plot device.

LLLLLink
Nah, Light had another way, anyway (Misa and the eyes). Rem just happened to be a convienient plot device.

FinalAnswer
Nah, L already had Misa under suspicion and stuff, and the way things were going, Misa, and thus Light, would have been caught. If not for Rem, Light would have been fubarred.

The fact it's on Wikipedia has nothing to do with it. erm

Wikipedia showed two statements from the author saying L > , as opposed to the one scan saying Light >. Wikipedia also listed the source, the same book from what the scan came from, and even what page number they are on.

So nah.

You can send me 100000000000 unreliable source which stated L is smarter but if the manga(Which is OFFICIAL) already says otherwise, All of those unreliable source are nothing but piece of c***.

Now, if the wikipedia already states that L is smarter in the same book and even showed the page number they are on, why don't you search the page by yourself and show it here.

FinalAnswer
The manga itself says L is smarter no expression

Near, who was given the same intelligence as Light, admitted that L was smarter then both himself and Mello. So yeah. The official manga contradicts the databook.

Wouldn't know where to do that, and am frankly too lazy to do that.

Near admitted he could never surpass L.

Also, L has the greatest displays of intellect in Death Note. His feats are borderline clairvoyance.

Lol, Near was talking about him and Mello combined, so your links are moot.

Scans are irelevant. I have already provided the evidence proving Near, someone with supposedly the same intelligence as Light, who is apparently > L, admits that he could never surpass L. I have provided the very page number of TWO statements by Ohba saying L is the smartest. You want moar? I can get you Light saying Near (Again, his equal according to the databook), is no where near on L's level. This is kinda proven as Near played right into Light's hands and only won because Mikami ****ed up. I can get you a scan showing Light falling for a trick by a person of lesser intellect while posing as L, then L commenting that Light was making him look bad.

So no. I will not hush. I am right.
