A mad scientist captures Nite Owl and The Protector...
He injects Nite Owl with blood from a human infected with the 28 Days later rage virus, and with the blood of Blade.
He then injects The Protector with the blood of a zombie (A fast zombie, think "Dawn of the Dead"
, and the blood of Selene.
The two retain their own powers, as well as inheriting the powers the scientist injected into them.
They are placed in a steel cage and forced to fight to the death. Nite Owl is stripped of his armor. Basically they are both in jeans and sneakers.
