Hmm I hope this doesn't turn out to be completely bad.

marwash22
If it's animated in the style of GI Joe: Resolute, I'll be happy. Hopefully it's not in the same theme of Brave and the Bold... ewwww!

Kazenji
Seems Thundercats is'nt the only one getting remade

Voltron is too

http://www.craveonline.com/entertainment/tv/article/voltron-returns-to-tv-103945

Kento
Now that has peeked my interest more than Thundercats. So much of my childhood is being remade, and half of it tends to suck though....Hopefully these won't go that way.

ChocolateCake
I am quite looking forward to the new THundercats. I have the feeling that it is going to be great.

LLLLLink
I'm excited for this, but I really don't want them to ruin my shows.

Kazenji
Well did'nt they do a decent job of that new HE-Man show.....well thats what i ready anyway

Transformers: Animated? It wasn't that bad. It takes a long time to get used to its visuals, but after that, it's full of so much fanwank that it's hard to say the show was crap. It reached out to G1 fans as well as Beast Wars fans, I thoroughly enjoyed it and was sad to see it end. Now, Transformers: Prime, not sure how that may turn out, too early to tell.

But sticking to Thundercats, thanks to TF:A, regardless of its looks, I'll watch it if the show has substance, so yeah, I'm lookin' forward to it.

ADarksideJedi
Nothing could replace the old cartoon that they had of it.After what they did to Transformors I am not expecting this firm to be any good at all.

Phanteros
Toyline has been cancelled. Not looking so well for the show.

TheAuraAngel
Oh hey, there is a thread for this.

Darn, I like the show. I want more of it. It's a remake done right. :T

Demonic Phoenix
^ Have to agree. Recently got into the show a few weeks ago, and I ended up watching the first 20 episodes back to back. no expression

The chances of a second season being made is slim though. Toy Line's been cancelled as Phanteros said.

TheAuraAngel
I know! It's a good show! The Petlars Episode still remains untouched though in terms of episodes. I don't think a single episode of any series I've watched can match it.

KingD19
Witht he little plant people? I cried man.

The 4th one with the flower people that only lived for a day? Emrick dying was the saddest thing in the whole show. Dude had balls.

I liked Native Son as well. I can understand why Tygra is such a douchebag towards Lion-O.

Indeed. It's pretty bawlsy for a kid show to not shy away from something like that, having Emrick die before he could accomplish his dream.

Native Son was good as well though I do think the ending was a bit weak. The flashback to Tygra's past was pretty well done and it makes him seem like less of a douche than he did before.

Demonic Phoenix
True. His 'journey' quote was awesome though. A lifetime in a day. Yeah, mostly everything in that episode was great.
Too bad they closed that episode with Lion-O doing what Tygra wanted to do in the first place, leading them into certain death.
For a kid's show, it has a surprising amount of racial undertones. Particularly since the Thundercats themselves were the primary oppressors in the past before Mumm-Ra arrived.

Yeah. Though I suppose it was good that the Tigers were finally free of everything, what with their being oppressed and then cursed for so long.
The Elephants were a lulzy race though.

It's actually got quite a bit of Fridge Brilliance in it. The last episode left Lion-O feeling more cautious and it left him running away, because he saw how much danger he was putting his friends in. Emrick dying helped him come to understand it and accept that you have to live life to the fullest. Granted, maybe he could have picked a better time to do that but he is young. stick out tongue

That is one of the few episodes I haven't seen. Mostly cause I is supporting the official release.

Favorite Thundercat?

The previous episode was the Rammlak one right? Wasn't that the one where Lion-O realized the value of comrades? Can't recall that ep well enough. >__> Though you're probably right.
Heh, yeah. "Teenagers."

Which episode?

Lion-O. Wilykit for a close second.

Si yeah. That is the one that probably makes people hate Lion-O the most.
Cept Panthro. He's just manly.

Any dealing with the Elephants. stick out tongue

Hmm...you know I probably agree.

It was like a complete turnaround. Dude goes from caring about oppressed and ridiculed lizards, to not giving a damn if his own companions got killed. Thankfully, it was temporary, and I don't believe he displays the same attitude in any other episode. Dude had just lost his father and his entire kingdom.
Yeah. Nunchuks. His acrophobia was a hoot though.

They're ossum though. Easily the best race. :O

Sweet. Third for me is prolly Panthro. Least favourite would be Tygra. That should be no surprise to you.

Indeed. But I'm glad they did it because it felt like something you could see happen. As opposed to Leah and Luke not being all that mad when their planet and family was killed respectively. That always bugged me.
Doesn't stop him from being bawss.

Better than the Petlars? O:

I actually may like Cheetara more....maybe*. And yeah, even though he has a really sympathetic backstory, Tygra comes off as really mean spirited at times. I don't dislike him though.

Jaga is an honorable mention for being made of pure testosterone and awesome.

True. Would have been stupid if he didn't have a reaction of some sort.
Makes him a source of humour though. That's good.

Yep.

As of Native Son, I don't dislike him either. He's just my least favourite.

Yeah. Leo was pretty bawss too. Claudius looked absolutely badass.

TheAuraAngel
So...as a whole, this or Korra?

dadudemon
Def Korra.

However, Thundercats is, at times, quite enjoyable.

Demonic Phoenix

Dunno. Korra on the whole has been enjoyable and good, with the exception of most of the season finale. Action in Thundercats is nowhere near as good, and Korra's humour is better. Both have oppresion/segregation of the weak as a major theme, and I think it is handled better in Legend of Korra. I probably like Amon and Tenzin more than any other character in Korra or Thundercats, though Thundercats IMO has a wider variety of characters.

I'd pick Thundercats though. Like I said, I watched 20 episodes back-to-back. Wouldn't have done the same thing with Korra, even if it did have 20 episodes.
I'm a bigger fan of the original Thundercats than I am of Avatar: TLAB. Plus, that Petalars episode.
Who knows though, if later Korra episodes are handled better, I could change my stance.

You?

I don't really agree about Korra handling the segregation theme better since...well by the end of it it doesn't seem like anyone cared about what the Equalists had to say. I can agree about the action sequences(I honestly struggle to remember many fight scenes for Thundercats). Humor?...eh, both were hit and miss for me in that area. I guess Korra takes it there though.

I do like Thundercats as well over all.

Demonic Phoenix
Sure, by the end of it. It was largely forgotten in the last 3 episodes or so.
The end result was far better in Thundercats (multiple animal races coming together due to Lion-O's actions), as opposed to Korra's where it is revealed that Amon really wants to end the art of bending, as opposed to helping the non-benders.
Still think it was handled better in Korra though. Or maybe I'm just remembering how it was handled incorrectly. Could be the case. Need to rewatch the season.
Action in Thundercats is largely boring. I think the Duelist and Swordmaster episode was the one with the best action, and it didn't involve guns, beams or shields.

TheAuraAngel
I can remember other action scenes I liked better but that is besides the point.

But what does Thundercats have that puts it above Korra? You didn't do a good job of explaining why you picked it. :P

Thundercats has Robo-Lion-o witht the lazer sword.

But Korra takes the action sequences. Still Mum-ra looks pretty cool.

marwash22
Korra and Amon have more mentions in this thread than any character from the actual show... just sayin'.

Thought I had responded to this. >__>

Cats, a better storyline, Cats, lesser focus on romance, Cats, a better finale, and Cats. stick out tongue

BlackZero30x
Im not a fan. Tried I just can't get into it. Glad some people enjoy it. For me I will stick to the original on dvd lol

Scythe
Been buying the dvd volumes because I can never make the damn show when it comes on. So far, haven't been let down. I love the animation style.

The Big O
That plant episode is the best. They haven't been able to surpass it yet. My personal opinion.

SamZED
Im still dissapointed with action scenes. The only letdown in otherwise great show. I can only think of one really interesting fight, the sword duel Lin-o had with that evil swordsman. Other scenes are boring, slow and aren't thought through. Also Mum-Ra's transformation was scarier in the old show. Or maybe I just think that because I was a kid back then. Still the show is great. Lovable characters, interesting storyline. And the journey and adventures feel a lot like ATLAB which is great.

KingD19
I feel sorry for Lion-O after what happened with Cheetara/Tygra, then the reveal with Pumyra.

Phanteros
Show's canned.
http://www.thundercats.ws/thundercats-indeed-dead-25816/#post61618I personally blame the stupidity of CN with its time slot and shitty advertisement. They pretty much buried it under DC Nation where it got snuffed out.

How did people like this show compared to the original version?

Are you actually asking or is this a rhetorical question/complaint. I actually liked this shown and I grew up watching the original.

I'm actually asking this question because I never saw the reboot. I was wondering if people liked it better than the original, just as much, or not as much. Sometimes, reboots don't match up to the original so I was wondering if this the same thing here.

XanatosForever
They took the series in a different direction, which itself wasn't a bad idea given the times. There were some odd points here and there, but overall I though they did a decent job capturing some of the old charm of the original, while bringing in more modern topics. Overall, I thought it was a fun.

Bro SMASH
Well, that just sucks that a good show like that got cancelled.

Right now, I'm trying to finally complete the original series, in which I always do before looking at reboots of anything.

NemeBro
It was better than the original.

Only a nostalgiafag would disagree.

XanatosForever
You're just saying that because Cheetara actually looks ****able in the reboot.

Seriously, though, the original definitely is a product of its era, and it shows. If I hadn't grown up with it, I probably might not be able to enjoy it compared.
