Did they actually utilize their speed?

Sinister's telepathy is superior to MM's because Sinister is capable of mind raping people like X-Man. I also remember a creature mind controlling Z during an arc where Atlantis had disappeared and when some of the JLA went back in time to Manitou Raven's time (or something like that).
