I have a theory about those that want power and attain it. That is that they are all psychopaths. Obviously I exclude Obama from this as he is the saviour of the Chinese people.

That theory doesn't seem very sound.

Theories and opinions are like KISS albums. Everyone has one and they're all dumb

I don't own a KISS album

dadudemon
I don't own a KISS album, either. I don't own any 70s or 80s music. I own very little music. And, no, I don't pirate, either.

To address the thread, I did hear on NPR that most executive elected officials have "mental disorders" related to narcissism and it's necessary to reach that place...so it's not really a "disability" as it is used to help them. Kind of like having abnormally long arms and a torso is a disability when trying to run, but is an advantage when trying to swim.

I own a bunch of 70s and 80s albums The Smiths (The Queen is Dead, Strangeways Here We Come), The Cure (Pornography), The Clash (London Calling), Sex Pistols (Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols), Patti Smith (Horses), David Bowie (The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars), Bruce Springsteen (Born to Run), The Jesus and Mary Chain (Darklands)....no KISS though. Quite good decades.

Oh also, most "psychopath", I believe, do not have the necessary social skills to rise to high political levels. Fictional characters like say Hannibal Lecter, tend to be just that....fictional.

Actually psychopaths tend to have extremely advanced social skills. I once read a blog of a parent trying to deal with the fact that his kid was a clinical psychopath, and he said that even he was fooled sometimes, and the kid was only 12. Apparantly they're also outstanding liars, so..... take from that what you will.

I've also read a paper that claimed that psychopaths are usually highly successful in their jobs, tending to be very manipulative and naturally good at conning people. But i don't remember much about that one.

You may be absolutely right since I base my knowledge of the world entirely on cracked articles.

Btw, this is the article where that particular belief entered my mind (unchecked, of course).

Politicians are simply puppets dangling from the strings of lobbyists working for huge corporations that hide behind an intricate cape of deceit and paranoia. I base my belief on pure opinion.

I've always thought it was interesting that "psychopath's" etymology was "without a soul" (Greek).

psyche = soul

pathos = nothing, lacking

Not a Christian "soul" though, more the essence of a person.

I know that, but the meaning is still there. The psychopath is lacking what normally makes a person human; that immaterial essence.

Fixed.

From some of the Mental Health studies I've read, many people in high places like Politicians , lawyers, etc. Have mental issues. And psycopath was right up there. They are very intelligent people who know how to be cunning, manipulative, skeem, plan, lie and have little or no concious.
