Not sure. Has NG equipment/metal ever been shown to be impervious to magnetism?

If he can't, does it affect the outcome of the fight?

It depends mostly on whether or not motherbox objects I would think.

Even if he can't, his shields are pretty powerful, and he has tons of abilities, including strength amping.
