Lobo has always had good showings. Always. His current feats are just more mainstream (and thus more noticed) than usual.

i must have that, but is it canon? To my knowledge, Superman Confidential is canon. That series was essentially just a retelling of key moments in Superman's career (with issues 8-10 covering his first encounter with the New Gods.)

On another note, Batista's depiction of the New Gods in those issues was superb... Probably the best I've seen.
