But can anyone tell the difference. In the UK this week we have a shoot to kill cop inserting song lyrics into testimony, another on trial for rape and yet another looking after his brother's (a drug enforcer) arms cache.

Funny stuff!

links?

especially "inserting song lyrics", because a rap battle between the police and some gangsters could be awesome...

In the whole country? That's an incredibly low level of corruption.

As a new member I cannot post links. Yes in the whole country, the rapist did molest and rape at least 16. The song lyrics were in a very high profile case where the shooting officer, shot a guy who wasn't really a threat. :-)

weapons cache:

as far as the lyrics thing goes, maybe a cop was being overaggressive, but a jury found the police acted within the law

yes, if these were all the cases of corruption, it would be an austoundingly low number

think of how many police officers there are, and what the normal crime rate for 1000 people is. Sure, we can expect that police, on average, would have a lower rate, but there will never be a rate of 0%, which is why there is a constant need for the police to be policed.

Pointing to cases where the courts are tackling this issue actually shows that the UK is tough on corruption, versus North America, where police abuses often amount to little more than a suspension and no court hearings.

Interestingly most original Bow street runners were sacked. As for the Jury re: the lyrics that will be looked at again if his testimony affected the outcome of the case as it shows total disregard for the court system. Rapist Police officers would be suspended with no court in the US? It's common for US cops to look after arms cahes for drug enforcer brother? Why infer these are the only cases of corruption in the UK? Are you sure no other cops here are corrupt...?

Heidi Fleiss talks a lot about giving cops free tricks, and the abuses in the system. I don't think the behaviour that this cop is being arrested for is actually that uncommon (if not as extreme as his case), it is probably more that it is proscecuted in the UK, or in this case specifically, than it is that it doesn't happen here.

In America gun caches aren't illegal, but yes, in all nations accross the world, there are links between the police and crime.

nobody is inferring that at all, just pointing out, there probably is little evidence that the police as an institution commit more theft and rape than do criminals or even just the population at large.

Why aren't theyinferring this? They should be. Go my friend find this evidence then come back and present it here for all the interwebs! :-)

That's all of Mexico, dude.

This can't be the first time someone put lyrics in their testimony. You've got to have faith in the police officers, but I don't know, enough is enough, perhaps they should get some consequences for such behaviour.

and your right all of mexico is like that now. 15 years ago acapulco used to be so damn nice and the cops were not as bad. ever since they connected the back road from the south park of acapulco all street hustlers from out of town can get into acapulco easier.

before you had to pay.

George Michael is epic.

The city I live in is in the middle of a scandal which in the end, may or may not turn out as big as rampart wherein police have established a pattern of literally beating people in the streets in order to silence witnesses and beating people to death in jails. The FBI has been called in after some of the beatings were caught on camera and after police were dumb enough to beat the crap out of the son of a sheriff's deputy on camera, with witnesses, with the kid's dad on the phone.

Oh and then there's Boss Joe Arpaio. Most of you know about the pink underwear in his jails, the sweltering tent cities, the abuse of illegal immigrants and the siding with neo-nazis. What you guys probably don't know but has been documented in Maricopa County and is coming up in the investigation against him is that he and his department laundered federal funds, gave preferential treatment to white sex offenders, and routinely murdered people with disabilities in his jail.

Suddenly a couple of crooked bobbies don't seem so bad, do they?
