Pai Mei from Kill Bill vol. 2 vs. Li Mu Bai from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Fight takes place at Pai Mei's house in the hills.

1) H 2 H

2) Mu Bai has the Green Destiny and Pai Mei has a Hanzo sword.

To the death.

I'm very inclined to lean towards Li Mu Bai in scenario 2. Scenario 1 I think Pai Mei showed more H2H prowess.

Pai Mei stomps in scenario 1 as he showed better h2h feats..

Chinese sword was cutting other swords like twigs and iirc, went through a thick piece of stone just as easily.

Executioners from Shao Lin. Shaw Bros. Hong Kong's version of Hammer Horror movies. They even did a colloboration together "Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires".

Pai Mei made multiple appearances in their films.

I can't speak for Pai Mei's other versions, but the one from "Kill Bill" gets schooled hard by Li Mu Bai. Hell Li Mu doesn't need the Green Destiny all he needs is a stick. As for Hand to Hand. Li Mu just avoids Pai Mei's attack while sipping tea and flirting with Yu Shu. Until Pai Mei collapses with exhaustion.

How is that we are taking about a guy who can block dozens of fast moving projectiles and runs across water vs a guy, who well can't.

Frankly the lower rung fighters in "Crouching Tiger" like Dark Cloud are probably still a level above Pai Mei. That is until Pai Mei can dance across water and run up trees.

Yeah well he's gonna need that to run away cause Pai could punch a hole through solid hard wood thicker than a foot with ease. Which is something Li can't do.

Does being hundreds of years old add to anything? the guy took down armies of ancient Shao Lin monks.

Li showed no super speed feats. They float through the air. And his fight feats were all in the human spectrum.

Pai Mei will punch Li and nothing Li can do will stop the pain.

Do understand the speed would be required to run across the surface of water? or the strength required to jump up a twenty foot tree, but even if we for some, inane blamed it on "magic spells", reason ignore that. We still have Mu Bai blocking repeated blow dart shots at the end of the movie. A reaction feat far and way better then anything Pai Mei displayed.

Truth is Pai Mei has very few feats.

Yeah 'cause Mu Bai is going to stand their and let him? Mu Bai is faster and more agile their is no reason to think Pai Mei is going to be landing super killing blows, if blows at all.

So according to "Kill Bill" , from which the version of Pai Mei in use comes from. Nobody knows how old he is, he could be hundreds of years old or 60 years old for all we know.

So their goes the hundreds of years old argument. As for the link it means nothing in this case as the OP for this thread specifies Pai Mei from "Kill Bill" so none of his feats from other incarnations matter.

In other words Pai Mei is still not fast enough or agile enough to hang with Mu Bai or Jen or for that matter probably Shu Lien or Jade Fox.

What is floating around going to do in a H2H match? Pai Mei will just stand there and watch and wait till Li got serious and started to exchange blows.

I would like to stress though that the way they float around an go up trees has nothing to do with speed and strength. It's obviously mystical in nature the way they move. Li Mu Bai didn't display the strength and speed necessary to actually perform such feats.

1.Kill Bill starts with the Shaw Bros logo signifying that this film is Shaw Bros canon.
2.Also whenever there was a scene with Pai Mei the film stock become the same as the old films.
3.Bill states that nobody knows how old Pei is to recognise the time gap.

Catching darts is nothing special specially since that's how Li Mu dies.
Li Mu showed no H2H speed or strength feats. Just magical floating feats. And sword feats.
Pai Mei can punch through a massive hardwood slab like paper.
Plus is a master of nerve strikes that can make your heart explode.
I wont count his other film feats because of the rules but he still wins a H2H fight with glee.

A swordfight is a different matter and quite frankly stupid considering the length of his appearances.

What are you talking about. The very fact that he performs such feats shows he has the speed and strength to do so. Nothing in the piece suggests that said feats are mystical in nature. Rather it is heavily suggested that what he and other can do is because of training, skill, speed, strength, balance etc.

To claim that he simply has a magic levitation powers to avoid his obvious speed, skill, and strength is like me trying to claim that Pai Mei has anti-wood powers allowing him to punch through wood, but nothing else.

Regardless the OP specifies "Kill Bill". The attempts to draw from other films is a cop out. You have more or less said as much yourself.

Mu Bai may have died from the darts, but that in no way negates the number that he blocked and avoided. Once again displaying reaction time far outside of what Pai Mei was shown to be able to do.

Once again it's not magical floating, it's speed, skill, and strength. Just like Pai Mei doesn't have magical wood breaking powers, but rather skill and strength.

Boards don't hit back nor do they evade. With his agility and speed edge. Pai Mei is never going to land a solid hit or finish the five point palm strike or what ever.

Dude they float. the film was a beautiful artpiece. To assume that it was strength and speed that allowed them to tap the water and float in the air is ludicrous. I just asked the girl next to me if she believed their feats were strength or magic and she just said.

Of course it does. As Mu Bai is not made out of wood and their for Pai Mei's magical wood breaking spells will not work on him.

On the other hand Pai Mei like all humans has large amounts of water in him so Mu Bai can walk all over him.

In other words STOP trying to write off Mu Bai's feats to make Pai Mei look better. The stance that Mu Bai is not faster or more agile is both ridiculous and not supported by feats.

Once again attempting to write them off as "floating" or "Magic Spells" is a cop out and no more valid then claiming that based on feats Pai Mei has a special board busting power, but can not apply same power/effect to hitting people.

Between the dart blocking feat and casual evading Jen Yu at different times. I see no reason why he couldn't evade.. At least until Pai Mei is sufficiently tired to be put on the proverbial mat.
