In Norse myth Odin simply rides into Fenris's maw IIRC.

If that's the same way he's destined to kill Marvel Odin then it's just a case of massive CIS on Odin's part rather than a show of Fenris's power

Which Gods? Not every Asgardian is Herald level, in fact most aren't.
