Couple questions

1. is it possible to buid an artificial planet?

if yes how long would it take?

were would all the materials come from

2. is it possible to build a planet sized space ship?

if yes how long would it take?

were would all the materials come from

3. lets say humans want to leave earth for a certain reason, how would we do it?

would we build a ship large enough for 6billion people or go back and fourth untill every one gets to the place?

Omega Vision
1. With current tech (or any tech in the forseeable future) no way

2. See answer above.

3. We wouldn't. There's really no place to evacuate to at the moment.

Well there's still a lot of questions.

For one: How long do we have to evacuate?

Because at the moment I don't think we even have the technology to bring a hundred people into space at once, let alone bring them to another planet or the Moon.

Sure but not with technology we have today.

Depends on what technology you have, how big a planet you want and what conditions you're willing to accept when you're done. If you want low gravity lots of heat it would take far less time than if you want a big planet that is fairly cold.

Anywhere from decades to centuries is imaginable. With Star Trek style superscience or other magic it could be done in seconds.

Other planets, or with magic/superscience alternate dimensions.

Probably not, certainly it would never be practical to build such a thing.

There's no currently anywhere to escape to.

Neither of those solutions sounds ideal. The first puts all your eggs in one basket if the unproven giant spaceship fails everyone dies. If you build one small ship and go back and forth you need a huge amount of time.

I'd build lots of battleship sized vessels and send them off in waves.

Using the material to build a fleet is still better.

If we say that the planet sized ship is as big as Earth we could be using that material to build 500 ships the size of Pluto. Those ships would still be incredibly durable, effectively immune to radiation, capable of carrying huge weapons (not to mention more weapons in total) as well as large enough to house each house whole current population of the Earth several times over. And they can go multiple different places at once, flank enemies, try out multiple different tactics to avoid danger, link together to form giant telescope arrays.

I could see a "planet sized" ship, but, for reasons Sym pointed out, I don't think we would ever sit down to try and make one.

I could see it being more a case of a smaller vessel just constantly running out of room, and eventually building larger, though even then, it would probably be easier to commission a new ship for the excess people.

1. no

2. no

3. we wouldnt, get used to your neighborhood.

Why built an artificial planet when you could terraform one which is already there.

ot not destroy the biosphere in one that's already here
