At least a hundred years?

I think if we gave it the same push we gave the Apollo Program to get to the Moon we could make it before 2040 if not sooner.

manned scientific missions might make it there in this century depending on how much money is wasted in it. I don't think we'll ever colonize it, if that's what you were getting at though.

Not necessarily colonization. But maybe a Mars base or two.
