Understand what you mean! Its a thin line though, Ive watched countless subtitled films in both formats and enjoyed them in either! Back in the day of VHS I was limited to getting original language versions of film, so I bought what I could, now though replacing my collection on DVD I still find I watch the movies in the versions I fell in love with! For example watched John Woos 'The Killer', 'A Better Tomorrow 1 & 2' and 'Once a Thief' dubbed! Loved em! Then watched 'HardBoiled' in original language, loved it! But have seen it dubbed and couldnt stand it!!! Confusing issue!!! Sorry I could go on all day ranting, watch Italian horror too, same problem!!! Lol!
