I had to try to remember "grey code" for a Uni exam, which is much harder to understand than Binary. They use it on digital encoders on machines, the difference being that grey code only changes one digit of the code at any one time.

Very confusing though.

If you were to head the columns from right to left they go something like....1, 2, 4, 8, 16, etc etc.

Therefore: -

0000 = 0
0001 = 1
0010 = 2
0011 = 3
0100 = 4
0101 = 5
etc

As you can see, there's no real need for the leading zero's as they mean nothing, but I added them so you can see how it works. Simple really.

I've never been much good at technical terminology, when corran asked me in another thread I responded, thinking he ment as in music, what does Binary form mean. so I ratteled on a bit about that musical structure. he probably thought I was insane from the contence of my answer.
