All very lovely, but Sony got the hardware right last time, and whilst the PSP did not flop per se, its performance wasn't what they wanted and many predicted.

So can Sony come up with that magic 'something' this time? And like Nintendo, they may have to worry more about Apple than anything else.

I'll tell you what I want on handheld though- a better battery life. The 3DS is bad and this looks bloody awful. This horsepower pursuit is coming with a high cost; we need a revolution in small battery design.

Sony are going for the brute force approach, i don't blame them really. The 3ds has got garunteed sales on the back of a new (and potentially best) Mario Kart itteration - it's certainly the reason im buying one, though i am desperately dissapointed MK3DS wont be a release title. I don't really think Sony have anything to fear from apple. People genuinly into gaming will have no problem carrying an iphone in one pocket and DS in the other (atleast i wouldn't).

And while alot of people appreciate the iphones games for what they are - mobile phone games - im sure people view Nintendo and Sonys devices as , i don't know..legitimate gaming devices? If you see what i mean. I wouldn't play SSFIV on an iphone, or fifa, or CoD or Tekken7. But i would play them on a Sony NGP. And i wouldn't buy an iphone for angry birds 3..but id buy a 3DS for Mario Kart 3d.

Right now, sure, but I think the itouch etc is slowly gaining credibility as a gaming platform- and Apple releases often.

I rather get this than the 3DS for some reason.

I also think mobile smart phone gaming will increase even more because I feel that the general consumer (including gamers) will want those types of portable games (easy, quick) instead of a full fledged game on the new higher end gaming devices.

In my opinion, if those games can get PS3 quality visuals then I rather have that game done on the PS3 instead of a handheld. I have a sweet system setup so why would I rather play the game on a small screen.

I completely agree with this. Apple is perfectly suited to be a strong contender in the Portable gaming market (and I think their Battery life is magnificent next to what the 3DS is promising)

The device does look nice though, and perhaps it will be powerful in the mobile internet line that's currently soaring.

while reading the IGN Live Blog I could not believe it, I'm really excited for this handheld. I was expecting just and upgrade, not all that much crap to actually get me excited about it.

all it needs is a 3D screen and it's all set... which is viable since SONY unveiled their 3D-OLED sans glasses TVs last year

I bought a PSP 3000 yesterday...

I'll wait before getting this I rushed into buying the original PSP, oh what a mistake that was >_<

Finally a portable for someone with man sized hands.

The idea that this upcoming gen of hand held portables is capable of current gen console graphics is blowing my mind. I can't even imagine the graphics the next gen of home consoles will be rendering.

So how much is this gonna be, $4000?
