Xavier vs Captain Comet

Glorificus
Telepathic battle only.

Who wins?

-K-M-
Classic or current Comet?

Glorificus
Most current versions for both.

Prep-Man
Xavier. Not sure even classic Comet has what it takes to take down Xavier. KM?

-K-M-
Current is stronger then classic in telepathy. Classic could do this, so amplify it and then you have current comet

How is Current Comet more powerful in TP? I don't recall any feats from him.

Mind Linking and Projection the Emotions of 8 Billion Skrulls

X-Men 90

(Writer: Alan Davis, Artist: Terry Kavanagh)

An unaided (Pre-Upgrade) Xavier mind links with 8 billion skrull minds all the way from a moon and projects their emotions at Galactus who is unfazed regardless of that the feat in itself is still very impressive.

Xavier without a doubt is a "telepath supreme".

There's one more from UXM #18 where he contacts the Stranger who is off exploring other worlds from Earth with no aid. I'll post it later...got to go.

ExodusCloak
Here you go, in the issue the Stranger was stated to be off exploring other worlds...so you can gauge that feat however you like:

And also Xavier at the moment is stronger then he's ever been too ever since being repowered by the M'Kraan crystal.

There's more references of Xaviers Power Upgrade in the Endangered Species One-Shot as well.

Oh those scans I posted of Comet are not his best telepathy feats, just a basis for his range.

Is Xavier stronger in telepathy? For sure, just what version of Comet makes it more a fight is all.

Prep-Man
What's his best TP feat? I remember something involving a dimension, but can't remember.

I was going to ask about this, as I can certainly see someone having a huge range without necessarily the same raw sort of power.

for instance, I don't think Nate Grey has those type of range feats

Yeah probablly the dimension feat

Fair point, but we have seen Xavier go against Marvel earth's best telepaths and win.

Although....shifty

Comet has the mental force of a mind 100,000 years old. However, Starstriker has gained Comet's power and amplified his stealing Comet's giving him the mental force of 200,000 years old. Yet, Comet actually outsmarts him and out powers him. Ha!

I actually picked the X-Man example because in a weakened state, he sort of wtf stomps Xavier (who, admittedly is trying to talk, in astral form, etc etc, none the less, great Xman feat).

It probably holds for others like Sinister or Exodus, who have very high combat psi feats, but not range

/shrug, this seems entirely tangental from the thread, my bad

tbh, I know nothing about Captain Comet, was more speaking theoretically

nice feat though

Prep-Man
Captain Comet is a beast. One of the first mutants, too.

Current Xavier is stronger then classic? I didnt' know that. When was that revealed? I don't doubt you, but have a scan?

Well they mention Beast conducting experiments on Charles restored telepathy. And since Charles and Nightcrawler seem to be aware of these experiments and infer it, I'd say it does hold some merit.

For sure, but it's not definitive as Xavier himself was unsure. Still, even if he is stronger (which is possible) I don't think by a huge margin.

Probably not, but he was already shown to be able to send a TP wave all the way to the Shiar Empire...which from the RATFOSE is on the other side of the universe as well as linking 8 billion minds unaided in his classic incarnation. Giving him a significant upgrade would be overkill.

Agreed. I give the nod to Xavier even without the upgrade. The range feat is nice, but as mentioned Comet has transverse dimensions with his telepathy. However, I feel X just has far more raw telepathic strength and has more experience in telepathic battles then Comet.

Existere
I wonder how much telepathic power X would lose if he grew hair.

Probably quite a bit.

You could also use Exodus as a point of reference.

Interesting feat, I know Jean and the Stepford Cuckoos have done that. I think Jean managed to hear Mikhail Rasputin in whatever dimension he's stuck in and the Stepford Cuckoos managed to contact Rogue in emplate dimension. IRRC Emma also managed to communicate with those X-Men stuck in Emplates dimension in the recent Serve and Protect mini.

Moondragon before the Dragon of the Moon retcon managed to pass a telepathy back in time...and hear millions of lives being snuffed out by Thanos in space from Earth. But it was retconned to being the Dragon of the Moons influence.

Only thing with that, is that it was stated many times that, that wasn't a fight so it's hard to use that as a reference. Exodus says that he wanted to coerce Charles into leading the Acolytes. So he uses an illusion loop to play on Professor X's guilt.

I could have sworn that there was another instance when the upgrade was referenced...but there's just too many one-shots to sift through since then.
