Is hard to say, considering the difference between Origins and 2.

Magic in 2 is just so much more impressive than it was in Origins.

I would go with Hawke though, if only because Hawke just seems to be so much moar hardcore than the Warden based on presentation, and because according to the lore Blood Magic is essentially the shit.

I don't think that even as a templar can the Grey Warden match the Champion. There's just too huge a gap

Yeah, tbh according to lore, the mage option is always the strongest choice.

Squads of templars are sent to take down single mages for a reason.

And Hawke did take down by far the stronger opponents, IMO. Meredith wielding the pure Lyrium blade was much more impressive than the Archdemon.
