That's no typo. His first name is actually Machete.
And as the bad guys soon find out, pissing off an ex-Mexican Federale whose first name just so happens to be the same as his signature weapon is a very, very bad idea.
Machete Cortez was screwed over once. He was set up by his boss, who was on the payroll of drug boss Rogelio Torres (Steven Segal - gasp - as a bad guy), his wife and daughter killed by Torres himself and is left for dead.
Three years later, and Machete is an illegal immigrant working as a day laborer in Texas. He is recruited by kingmaker Michael Booth (Jeff Fahey) to assassinate crooked Senator McLaughlin (Robert DeNiro).
However, the whole assassination plot was another setup to garner sympathy towards McLaughlin and his anti-immigration bill. Even more so, Booth is also in cahoots with Torres and Machete is looking for some payback.
Machete is awesome. Go see this movie. Rent it, stream it on Netflix, but go and see this movie.
