Alright, the draft commences!

My appologies if this one seems to go a bit slower, as I am camping this weekend, but I should be able to get new drafts up in a timely manner.

The official deadline for drafting is Monday night at midnight, and I'll leave discussion about the choices for a few days after that if need be.

Cable (as seen during the "God Cable" part of Cable/Deadpool)

second correction:

draft: pre-cable/deadpool cable

potential: God Cable

basically, the draft is the lower powered, with max potential, which is what we can discuss as being either above or below caps

Here's an example of Cable usage in previous tourneys, so he can't classify as "unused".

inimalist
Cable is not an unused character

leonidas
chase eh? GREAT pick..... bastich.

There are some loopholes to be had with Chase. Be careful there.

Also, the "minimum # of appearances" rule (if there is one here) may come into affect with him. Planetary only had like 27 issues, and Ambrose was probably in about a third of those.

I'm not in the tourney. I'm putting the info out there for in's benefit.

not close to a third actually. not sure what the appearance level is for this tourney, but his lack of appearances has kept me from drafting him in the past.

i'll go on record as well and predict xemnu will be banned or will really stir up headaches for the convenor of this little shindig at some point in the procedings.....

Simbon
I don't think there was a minimum appearance rule set before, and personally I think I would be a shame for one to be imposed now. Not for my own benefit, of course.blushing

Really, though, characters like Chase and Xemnu will make this whole thing much more interesting than if we all make naked power grabs for the Magnetoes (yes, the plural of Magneto has an "e"wink and Cables of comicdom. Besides, Inimalist was specifically looking for obscure characters...

psycho gundam
if xemnu is taken out, you can always draft nagraj

Understood, just pointing it out. Ambrose is literally between 3-8 appearances. I'm not sure a power level can be ascertained, especially since what he does is technically localized reality warping.

6 appearances.

leonidas
6 is generous since only a couple really have him demonstrating his powers. whatever. whoever claimed him will need to be sure they can back him up..... smile

Blair Wind
Didn't Gundam and Leo team up? Chase goes to them or Smurph/Jake stick out tongue

psycho gundam
we did?

shifty

why should he be banned?

I think this is actually covered by this rule:

All other forms of reality, time and probability manipulation are allowed, however, attacks using them directly would be banned from the tournament as they are unblockable for the vast majority of characters. However, all abilities used through_these powers must be shown in a scan. A time manipulator would not simply be allowed to manipulate time in any way you wanted, but only in ways they can be shown as manipulating it_on panel.

All forms of magic are allowed, with the above conditions applied. Dr. Strange must have cast a spell in a comic to use it.

If you are drafting a time/reality manipulator, you can't just have them do the things you want them to do with that powerset. So, if Ambrose only has 8 appearances, he only has 8 appearances to have used his powers, and would thus have an exceptionally low versatility with a power that seemingly could have much more range.

So, while it might be true that we don't know how good of a time manipulator they are, or what sorts of time manipulation feats should be in their repitoir, the only valid ones in this tournament are ones that are backed up with on panel support.

thoughts?

The Wiki for Xemnu has a couple of problematic things for me:

That psionic feat seems a little high for mid herald

and:

which is a clear violation of the killability limit

rather than try to rule in such a way that Xenmu is eliminated if he loses his original form, I'm tempted to ban him outright.

The participant who drafted Xenmu is free to appeal both of these things to me in PM, or anyone can discuss it here. If there is no clear explanation as to why these are not a violation, Xemnu is banned.

inimalist
ok, so, if there are no further issues with the drafts, this round will end tomorrow at midnight, and the second round of drafts will begin at this point

inimalist
we are waiting on one potential draft, but otherwise, round 1 is closed, and I will be moving onto round 2
