hercules' standard gear: helmet of hades, which renders him invisible; shield of perseus, which can turn anyone who gazes at the face of the medusa on it into stone; sword of peleus, which can supposedly cut molecules; and (w/ bow) arrows of hercules, which are poison tipped and able to pierce "all" defenses

herc doen't start with his helmet on, it is on his hip as the match begins

even with invisibility, a shield that can magically petrify opponents, and ranged/melee weapons that can cut through matter easily?

herc still has his pancration skills too

And is the shield thing automatic or what? if you look at it when the wrappings are off of it, you turn into stone (so far only this goddess didn't transform, normal thugs did however)

Why doesnt zeus just ascend hercules back to his full glory?

Herc turns everyone into stone, except for Hawkeye, who doesn't look at it via too far beneath his notice.

Yes, Hawkeye instead loses straight bow-to-bow. :P
