Positives are the red trunks are gone, which helps streamline him. And I've liked the raised shield every since it was done for Superman Returns.

Why so many lines though? It doesn't need to look so much like protective body armour. And will he continue to wear this under his suit at the Planet?

Prep-Man
I don't mind that costume at all. I think it's going to be the same one as the movie.

Batman-Prime
Reminds me of Japanese Animes. Armor like.

i think the armor like costume will grow on me

Although it's not bad because it gets away from the spandex look, I don't think doing so is necessary in comics. And considering that the Man of Steel film suit takes on more of an armor look (which I like - see my comment in Man of Steel thread), I would like some medium -- preferably Superman's original medium: comics -- to stay true to tradition.

I don't mind the new costume. Most people won't even notice the difference. Its nothing to complain about. At least it doesn't look like Wonder Woman's new look, or every other female superhero who has to wear pants. sick

PillarofOsiris
I don't like it. I hate how "blocky" it is, and I hate the collar as well. But the new stories are still awesome. DCNU is blowing away anything Marvel is doing right now.

Sabretooth
Love the new costume. DC has finally figured out it's not 1965. Armor look really works for Batman as well.

Superman's classic costume looked fine; some artists just did it badly.

I do like the new one, though, at least, like the old one, when it's done by a decent artist.

Sabretooth
True. Jim Lee and other of similar talent can make just about anybody look good.

Found this variation on the New 52 costume. I like this better than the official one.

Really? I just don't like the lack of yellow on the belt

I though the cape look better.

I'm overall happy with the new costume though.

I just think it's a bit OTT design wise.

I can see your point. I somewhat agree, but I still like it a little bit more than the one he has right now.

The New 52 costume is growing on me. I like it a lot more now that when I first saw it.

^I thought it was a nice change.

Superheroes with undies outside are outdated IMO.

They were ok back in the day, but not anymore.

Except for women evil face

The new 52 costume is the best variation I've ever seen on the classic look. I actually like it so much that if the classic look disappeared, I wouldn't mind (the only other hero I would say this about is Thor). However, this variation I found: it's like 52 was given an extra finishing touch. Basically, I think it takes it just that much further from the spandex look. IMO, that's really what you need to do to give Superman a more modern, realistic look...and I'm glad to see the makers of Man of Steel were thinking along those lines.
