I am posting a poem I published on hubpages under the username stephane86.

This poem is inspired by Samuel Beckett's famous play "En Attendant Godot". It is very religious in nature but deals with existential questions. It is not, however, intended as an atheistic or militant Manifesto of any kind.

En Attendant Godot

Let's wait and see, if He comes
Light a match and start a fire
We will sit and wait for the time
En attendant Godot, let's dance

Where are you, o Great One?
Time is passing you by,
And we are losing patience
En attendant Godot, let's sing

History is progressing
Armies are advancing
It's a theater out here
And it's looking menacing
En attendant Godot, let's hope

Civilizations have come and gone
Entire countries gone astray
Little children lying on the streets
The spectacle of human misery
En attendant Godot, let's watch

Godot, where are you?
I have been looking for you
My only Love, are you true?
En attendant Godot, let's love

The silence is deafening
Can barely hear the human voice
All around, the demonic laughter
Of a life that is imprisoned
En attendant Godot, let's pray

The fire is almost put out
Everyone is gone now, I think
Safe for a few bystanders
Let's celebrate the funeral
Godot ne vient pas, Il est mort

--- Paix a Son Ame

A Funeral for a Friend

King of Blades
French and death; bread and wine...
