Sinestro basically runs a who's who of the universe's most vile inmates through fear (well at least right b4 he turned GL again ). Many of whom are the lowest of lowlifes. They all know not to cross him or they're pretty much atomized. That's pretty bada$$.

Considering most of Nova's tricks are gravimetric, and he's up against a character that could at least survive the gravity of a black hole, if not easily, and has greater versatility?

Rider can absorb or manipulate any type of energy. Gravimetric is just the most prominate.

We won't go the high end route on who can tank what because Rider has he's own high end shielding feats. Rider can also absorb or manipulate just about any energy type. Not to mentioned he has the power to bust just about any construct Sinestro throws at him.
